The expression on the dumb kunts face says it all...she was genuinely disappointed (as I am sure all ESPN leaders/producers etc etc were) that Freeman didnt take the bait and turn that into some several minutes of political garbage about how all America is racist etc etc

Franklin is a good college football coach on paper. Just look at his overall stats at PS as the HC for the past 11 years: 101-41 overall. Bowl appearances in all but one of his years (and that year happened to be 2020). His teams have finished top-10 in the AP poll four times. No comparison IMO, to 8-8 seasons time & time again w/Garrett. PS hasn't sniffed a Championship since 1986. Franklin had a chance to rid that monkey on his ahoulder after numerous failers by not defeating Michigan/Ohio State. After losing to OS this season (Michigan not on schedule) he again had a chance by making the playoffs.

Very frustrating to say the least. Especially when you watch your team dominating the trenches on both sides of the ball, outgaining the Irish on the ground & keeping ND from moving the ball. No mistakes were made. PS played a great game, until the end. So w/33 seconds left on the clock on your own 28 yard line, & Franklin decides to play aggressively?

Are you kidding me? You have to the best RB duo & the best TE in the country & you decide to pass the ball? Not one WR was used the entire game because the run game was working. All Franklin had to do was run the ball close enough down the field for a field goal. Not ALL the blame goes to Franklin.

As soon as I seen Allar ready to go down knowing he was going to try to make a play, it was a no brainer it was going to be intercepted. Why Drew? Why would you not take that sack?

ND has no business being in the National Championship game. (Irish Green vs PS Blue/Egals Green vs Cowboys Blue same rivalry) Loathe their coach too. Has an attitude on look how great of a coach I am with his quiet smug face all the time. Talk about luck this season. Folks say, well you have to cheer for the other team in your division now. Well, cheering for Ohio State is like Dallas fans cheering for the Egals.

Hats off to the refs. They did let them play. I only caught two penalties that weren't called vs ND. Holding & facemask.20250110_100429.jpg20250110_100450.jpg
The only good thing that can make EVERYONE on this board happy now, is that young Green Bay smacking the Egals out of the playoffs as they did Dallas last season. Tired hearing about them & Barkley!

Franklin is a complete dipshit.

His record is built up almost entirely on beating up on mediocre to bad Big 10 teams. When he coaches against really good teams, they lose.

There was absolutely no excuse for them to lose last night. Notre Dame's best DL was out and one of their other good ones was playing hurt. Their best offensive player was playing on one leg. They lost not one but TWO starting OL during the game. Notre Dame's best CB is/has been out. Penn State's team was loaded with top-end NFL talent on both sides of the ball.

If Freeman were coaching Penn State last night you guys would have won by 3 or 4 TD's. Franklin is THAT bad.

Competitive game last night, a ton of NFL talent on that field.

Game essentially came down to 3 plays. The inexplicable 75yd screen pass TD right before half time, sensational Will Howard playcall/run on 4th and 2 (one of few good play calls Chip Kelly had the entire game) and then obviously the strip sack/fumble return. Everyone will obviously remember that play but the play before was a moronic play call by Sarkisian. They had 1st an goal on the 1 and had one run for no gain and the next play lost 7 or 8 yards.

OS gave Texas 2 PI calls in the red-zone. Texas had ample opportunities yet couldn't/didn't take advantage of the gifts.

This helped lead to another failed effort in the red-zone for Sarkisian ending a 2nd straight season in the College Football Playoff semifinals because of an inability to score touchdowns in the red-zone.

This year, the failure was more egregious than the loss in the Sugar Bowl that required Texas to score a touchdown against the clock from the Washington 12-yard line and 13-yard line, but also reflective of struggles that surfaced in recent weeks. Texas failed to score a red-zone touchdown in 3 trips in the SEC Championship game loss to dbair1967 Dawgs and went 1-of-3 in red-zone.

Had Texas repaired these redzone obstacles & score on their 1st 3 tries, they would have beaten OS. They were in a rhythm.

Sarkisian: One of the best offensive minds in college football yet can't resolve the constant red-zone dilemma

Franklin: Repeatedly making boneheaded calls & being aggressive on drives when games vs top teams are on the line

College Championship Game: "Don't care. Won't watch" :funny:

daboys, we are here for you if you need support

Thank you dbair. I had JUST read about this. I'm good either way. Allen produced a very good defense, but as seen, he pooped his pants vs a poor ND offense, allowing their backup qb to get them back into the game. Also, it drove me nuts that Allen can't stop the simple slant pattern until the 2nd or 3rd qtr every game regardless of opponent.

I have a gut feeling Allen's departure isn't because his "family wants to move to SC", but instead, he had one foot out the door & one on a banana peel because of the playoffs. Back-to-back firings wouldn't look too good on his resume. Franklin does have a heart. (tongue in cheek)

PSU will be fine with their next DC. Great defensive culture there.
You did get some good news, both RB's and Allar made returning for next year official.
Lol. I was just going to post that. I'll post it anyway. Two very smart young men putting their degrees first instead of the NFL. 20250114_094030.jpg
