Archer saying Cowboys haven't granted Bucs permission to even speak to Marinelli yet, says Cowboys want to keep Marinelli.

Mentioned the Cowboys might demand some sort of compensation for Marinelli if they were to let him leave, but I thought the league barred that a couple years ago and it wasn't allowed any longer.

I have never heard of anyone being able to get real compensation for letting an assistant coach go.

In fact, I do not even think it is allowed per NFL guidelines. They eliminated trading picks for head coaches long ago after the Raiders got picks for Gruden.

Or what they used to call "future considerations" back in the old days. In other words, give you a lopsided trade advantage when swapping late picks or something.

What I find amusing is that guys like Fisher are on Twitter right now talking about how you "could" do it. How fricking likely is it, that's all I care about. And the answer is "not very" to "not at all".

Emmm, Malcolm? Jerry here. I understand you lak mah defensive coach. How about a third round choice for him? He can bring anyone off the street and make 'em play hard. He also rassled a bear when he was...hello?

The phone call may start out like that but in the end we would have sent Marinelli and our 1st to Tampa Bay for a handful of magic beans.

He'll also throw in a 3rd in exchange for a conditional 7th in 2018.
