Goose was talking on the Ticket with Norm this morning about Norv being the only interesting guy who could come in here as OC, but questioning whether he would come in here and not call plays. He knows Jerry, it's his offense we're running, and one of the best play callers in the league.

He said something else interesting... coming to Dallas to coach offense is a career stopper. With Garrett calling plays, there's no upward mobility for an OC here.

On defense he mentioned Ray Horton.

He also said he liked Zimmer as a HC candidate for some of these openings around the league, but he probably wouldn't get a job cause all the owners want offense.

Norv should be resigned to being an assistant from now on anyway. If Jerry offers him enough money I don't see why he wouldn't come here.

That was kind of his point... That's the only kind of OC we can get, unless we're talking about moving up a lower level assistant to his first OC job.

I'm not happy Garrett is being retained, but if he has to be here then getting Norv to come in and run the offense would at least one positive. Norv understands the importance of balance, and he's also an exceptional play caller. I'm guessing the happiest guy at VR about getting Norv might be Demarco Murray, who could be in position to have a career yr under Norv and turn that into $$$ (either here or somewhere else). Murray could probably get 1400-1500 yds in Norv's offense. I also think Norv would do a better job with Romo.

As far as the Garrett staying situation, I think Norv as OC is best case scenario.
