Damn Doom, I think you might be the only person more negative than myself.

What GM, coaches and player scenarios would make you happy?
I'm talking specifically about this flying dicktrap of Church's.

I realize that but it seems like no matter what thread I read you're down on just about everyone & everything, which is fine with me, I'm not trying to change your mind, I'm just curious what you see positive about the Cowboys. My memory sucks but the only thing I can recall you touting is the 3rd string QB

On my prior post the first paragraph was about how we lost to Detroit last time. The second paragraph was about how we well might lose to them again Sunday.

I'm only pointing out this is basically the same defense we fielded last year. They're very vulnerable.

I've made many posts about the things I like about this year's team. The 3rd down conversion rate has been a big plus - limiting the snaps the defense faces, at the cost of course of, we no longer have the league leading punter. I'll take that tradeoff every time.

The games we have lost are the ones where we didn't have a good 3rd down conversion rate.

I like pounding the ball and playing smash mouth. We're doing that well this year. That helps the entire team's mentality.

I like the passing game especially when we spread the ball around. I still think we're underusing Hanna and Escobar though.

"Positive dissatisfaction" was one of Jimmy's mantras. We do some things well but can do them better.

Gotcha, I'm scared every damn week.I watched last years Detroit game the other day and couldn't believe they blew the 10 point lead with 90 seconds left, having said that this years team looks so much better but somehow that crappy D got 4 turnovers

I dont understand why Detroits O is scoring so few points with what looks like better players on O

I'm concerned Detroits D will slow down our O and bring out the old shitty D but like I said I'm gloom and doom every week, hopefully they'll keep rolling

Romos health always seems to be behind all the Cowboy loses this season. My biggest concern is Romo getting hurt or a major player getting hurt or a bunch of turnovers. If those things dont happen and the Cowboys play like they have, they should win.

Stafford has not been playing well lately. He is taking a ton of hits. His O-line is not doing a good job of blocking for him. Their run game has been decent. I think the Cowboys will get their hands on a few INTs from Stafford.

The Cowboys have proven they can run on any defense. Seattle, Texans, Eagles. Eventually every defense breaks down. Lions have not played against many high powered running attacks. Jets could have done better if Geno could actually throw an accurate pass. The Lions are dirty and they hit hard, Murray and all the WRs need to hang on to the football.

When was the last time they've been relevant? The Lion's offense this year pails in comparison to the one that beat us last. And that was largely due to our own incompetence.

Normally I would agree, in fact I do agree, but this is the Cowboys. The same ones that lost to the lesser QBs in Kaepernick, McCoy, and Sanchez... ALL AT HOME.

I'd feel a lot better if this game was on the road. Or fully knowing that Garrett will remain in his "Clapper" mode.

That incompetence mainly being, miserable, horrible 3rd down conversion rate exposing the defense. It's no different today, this is still essentially the same bunch. With still essentially, the same problems.

Megatron will absolutely eat us up especially with dullards like Church thinking payback instead of getting his fucking JOB done out there.

Really? Last year the Cowboys finished 25th in 3rd down completion percentage with 35%. This year they were #1 for most of the year but finished at #2 with a completion rate of 47%. That's 12-percentage point increase. I don't think any other team has had such a marked improvement in that category. AND... we went undefeated in December... when was the last time that has happened?

Sorry, but in man aspect this is not the same Cowboys, but I get what you are saying... they are still the same Cowboys in that they can and still lose to lesser teams.

THIS. I like though that we are using Beasly more in the middle of the field. The Lions' defense is overly aggressive, and thy will look to shut down Murray. Screens would be excellent against the Lions, but because they would be, I know we won't use them because Garrett will out think himself, like the Cards game last year.

Grover Quinn, while an All Pro is vulnerable. I remember we torched him when he was with the Texans.

I was talking specifically about how we lost to Detroit last time, going 3-13 on 3rd down.

35% for the season IS horrible by the way. I do understand it is much improved this year - in fact this is the basis of the entire defensive improvement you see. Far less snaps, far less exposure.

I would say first in the league on 3rd down could be considered as "much improved". :lol

I am heartened you would say that.

Church has been awful that's for sure.

Tries hard and stuff, but physically is just too slow. Anytime he is in coverage downfield its bad.

Been saying it for 2 years or so now, but his best position is a backup hybrid type OLB/safety that plays a LB type position in the nickel or dime defense.

INT and Detroit didn't gouge us through the air. I say he did his job today. Yeah, it's ugly, but that's how our defense has been doing it all year.
