we'll split the difference and just say that people who believe in invisible sky beings are still racist because they're more inclined toward human division than people who don't believe in holy texts that declare that nonbelievers (people who are different than them) will be destroyed in horrific fashion.

or is that too wordy?????

Big Bang theory

Story of Creation

Two sides of the same fucking story. Get over yourself with your invisible sky being.

Evenuatlly it's the same freaking story if you take out all the flowery crap from the Bible.

Bible says God did it
Folks such as yourself say it just happened

Eventually. if you take it to it's conclusion, it all had to start somewhere and even there it had to have a beginning. If believing in a sky being helps people be better human beings then why the fuck shit on them? Either stand for something or you'll fall for anything, sure holds a lot of weight in the debate of creation verses big bang debate.

You have your anti religion religion and they'll have their religion which when it finds the end it's still not answered a damn thing.

You realize that he is talking about what I said before "love your neighbor as yourself". You have to read the verses before it too so you have the context of the passage. Also when you said if you claim to be a Christian you should act like one. I agree, but being a human being with flaws, I am bound to fail at some point. Your expectations are unrealistic and I think they are unrealistic so you can be cynical of Christians.

I think your expectations are too low so that you can continue to sin and get “forgiven” at the end of the day. The bible calls people like that “lukewarm” whom Jesus says he will barf out.

My thinking is that if there was a real god and a real religion, those people would be different and everyone would know it.

To put the big bang and creation on the same level is very ignorant (not that you are). Science has answered many questions about the universe and continues to learn. Religion does not provide you a means to continue to learn, “god just did it” is always the response. Have you actually read the creation story? The events contradict the big bang. Do you really believe the earth is 6 thousand years old vs 4 billions years old? But to you it’s all the same story, lol. I also think taking a neutral stance get us no closer to finding the answers. Just another way to avoid having to defend an opinion.

You are saying we should be better, but not allowing for innate human flaws. The bottom line is we aren't perfect, and God doesn't expect us to be. Why else would he allow Jesus to be sacrificed to cleanse us of sin. Not one person on this earth can ever be without sin. Your views on Christianity are simplistic and ignorant.

Not saying a christian has to be perfect, but should have higher standards.

Not really, you pretty much said that in every response, because you continued to argue everytime I said everyone has flaws. If by higher standards you mean should strive to be Christ like, I agree. The fact remains that we are still going to fail at some point.

Then you agree with me. Christ was perfect. The standards are to be perfect.*

*of course nobody is going to be, but that was never my point.

Disagree. There are more than a few atheists that are just as bad, looking down at people of faith, considering them to be of lesser intelligence because they believe in God/Jesus/Allah/et al. atheism has become just as organized as religion, and has the same trappings.

Atheism is not a religion. Not all share the same beliefs on many topics. All it means is a lack of a belief in a specific god. Nothing more. I do not look down on anyone of faith. Some of the nicest people i know are religious. All i ask is they do not push their religion on me (and some do). I have family that told me my business and marriage would fail because i do not believe in god and did not speak to me for years because of it. I have found that it is harder to be atheist than a christian. You have to keep your mouth shut because religion rules America.

My anti-religion religion doesn't say that people who think differently than I do are destined for the fiery pit of eternal damnation though. It also doesn't require you to wake up early on sundays to be bored to fuckall.

I better enjoy superpunk and everlastingxxx while I can interact with them now... because I might miss them when they're burning in the bottomless pits of hell for an eternity.

The cool thing about Christians and athiests and the argument of which is right and wrong, is if the Christian is wrong in their belief, oh well. They're just dead.

If the athiest is wrong, sick burn. Literally.

That seemed to be at least part of your point, if I was wrong I apologize.

What I want you to understand at least for me, is that I'm not perfect, but I feel that I am a better person with Christ then I was without him. By better I mean that I am a better me, more patient, caring, forgiving, understanding, tolerant, loving, a better son, husband, and father.

Pascal’s Wager. Faulty logic. You assume christianity is the correct religion. You don’t account for the other religions. What if Islam is correct? You will still burn in hell. As a christian, if you are wrong, you would have wasted your one and only life sitting in church, in prayer, giving tons of money and living a lie while teaching it to others.

You are probably not giving yourself enough credit for having these qualities. You are the one doing the work.

OMG!

Grown men are actually having a mature conversation about religion on a message board and nobody is getting their feelings hurt.

Someone should email this link to RomperRoomZone.com
