If he wins the job with legit competition, I wont have a gripe about it
The same legit comp that Bill Nagy faced?
future dbair take - "He beat out Alan Ball and Mario Butler. He clearly is starting caliber."

The 2009 draft is Exhibit A of Jerry's ineptness. There's a story that will come out one day about Jerry and the scouts that day and once it does, I don't think even dbair or Hostile will be able to defend Jerry anymore.
I can't, not yet at least. I can say one scout was ready to resign and dbair's fantasy world of Jerry's not really in charge will be proven false.Elaborate...

Wow, what.
That is disturbing. Interesting that you know a scout. Is it a long time scout or a more recent scout?
But Jesus, that is disturbing coming off the disaster that was 08, if he was pushing around the war room.
I need to go read patriot reign and war room before the superbowl this week, it's going to leave me more depressed though I know it.
It was the beginning of a very bad couple of days. Jerry was hell bent on showing everyone how smart he was from that point on. I really can't say anymore.
One thing that is a little more public is Jerry's mishandling of the 2nd round pick...the 51st pick. He was so unprepared when the Seahawks jumped up to 49 and took Max Unger that he had no clue who to take and started working the phones. No serious takers. He kept pushing Buffalo to make the deal. Stephen and some others were telling Jerry and then eventually yelling at him that time was running out. Time expired and Jerry brushed them off, still talking to Buffalo. Buffalo made the deal because they were getting the much better end of the trade. Buffalo warned him that if Cleveland ran up to the podium to take their guy (Levitre) the deal was off. Jerry argued that the deal was verbally agreed on and that Buffalo better hurry up and make their pick. Buffalo was supposedly not happyl with the way Jerry was handling this and almost said forget it. Buffalo ran up and picked Andy Levitre.
After hanging up, Jerry looked at the scouts, coaches, etc. and said something to the effect that he has been the General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys for 20 years and that he should not be challenged when running "his war room".

I think Mike Jenkins, Orlando Scandrick, Gerald Sensabaugh, Barry Church, and Danny McCray are pretty much locks to return. Mario Butler probably has a good shot too. So that's 5, maybe 6 players, for 8 maybe 9 spots.
3 new players most likely.
Adding Terrell Thomas CB (cheaper than Newman), Tom Zbikowski FS (cheaper or equal to Elam's deal), and Janzen Jackson CB/S (4th or 5th round pick) wouldn't be big splash additions but would really improve the Secondary. Then we could use the bulk of our cap room for a Calais Campbell, Mario Williams, Carl Nicks type.
