I guess he lives to play another season with the Cowboys...

What's his incentive to re-work his contract now? Is he too late to be a 'cap casualty'? And would it make any sense for Dallas to cut him post-June 1st?

Worst free agent signing in team history considering the money and the lack of production:

Carr was a classic case of exactly why you don't sign another team's veteran to a giant contract.

First of all there is no way to completely separate a player's impact and contribution from their team's specific scheme, talent of other teammates, and success. Carr was a low round draft choice who played opposite a guy who was a pro bowl high round draft choice.

Then there is factor involving motivation. You've paid big bucks, huge bonus, and long term contract. It's obvious from the price tag that he's the starter, no competition is there. Additionally, the team cannot afford a backup with future starting potential so the high priced veteran has absolutely everything he wanted before he even entered the field. He may intend to play his best but you really need to be pushed to accomplish this.

Therefore, you not only get uninspired play, you have also stunted the growth of the entire squad by denying opportunity to others to compete and win the job themselves. This was a Jerry jones staple in the past and it resulted in a decade and a half of mediocrity.

My problem with the Carr contract and the trade up for Claiborne was this sudden panic to get man corners only to abandon the philosophy not even a whole year later. Not to mention we already had our current best CB on the roster in Orlando Scandrick and a recent 1st round CB in Mike Jenkins.

and before dbair runs in here with his everything we do is magic nonsense and that Jenkins sucked..1) tell me he's been worse than Claiborne the last three years and 2) Jenkins was in a contract year and was ready to go. He completely shut down after the Claiborne move and decided to rehab on his own.

Jenkins was a legit Pro Bowler in 2009. He was a good player. Not great, but good. He just wrecked that shoulder and then went downhill.

But yeah, the real problem was both corners getting torched that last game of 2011 and panicking to replace them because that's what Rob wanted. At least now Marinelli is so old he shouldn't want to go anywhere and we can let him run things for years.

Ragdoll Jenkins could not stay healthy. But no. We shouldn't have traded up for Claiborne. I didn't like the pick when we did it.

Good coverage corner but terrible with contact and did not relish tackling.

Well said, couldn't agree more
