Might be similar to when th Saints drafted Malcolm Jenkins from hio St in 2009. He was also a CB and they moved him to FS. Coincidence perhaps, but he was also drafted 14th.

Some of the buzz coming out of the NFL Combine is that a number of NFL teams are now looking at Alabama DB Dre Kirkpatrick as the top safety prospect in the draft. Either way the Cowboys have needs still at both corner and safety and Kirkpatrick is the kind of versatile athlete that could play a big role at either spot.

I wouldn't draft Kirkpatrick at 14 for any position. I'm not looking for a corner or safety for that matter until the third or fourth round.

It's a deep corner class and we can find one then. Maybe take a flyer on a safety later in the draft. Phillip Thomas from Syracuse comes to mind.

I think what Saban says about him is going to go a long ways towards his draft status. If he ok's him and says he never had other issues or failed drug tests, the incident probably wont have much (if any) effect on where he goes.

Yeah it would have been more understandable if it had been an addictive hardcore drug, and not one that pretty much everyone does.

I'm not saying I think weed should be illegal. And I'm not disagreeing that a lot of people use it.

But the fact remains, it IS illegal.

And people get arrested for possession of it. And the NFL tests for it, and punishes players who use it.

Therefore, there's a serious risk involved if you're a team wanting to invest a high draft pick and millions into a player who uses it.

eh at 14th overall it's not that big of a risk/investment, especially with the new price points from the CBA. If he's talented you can't let little crap like this cloud your opinion.
