And don't use "Sensabaugh and Poole suck!" as a reason.

Tell me why this guy is worth #14 - a selection I hope will be our highest for years.

Video's, scouting reports, etc.

Let me see them.

Playing the safety position is all about intelligence and instincts..those two just so happen to be Barron's biggest strengths.. Everybody wants to look at a safeties 40 time to determine whether he is fast/quick enough to be a single high cover safety.. At the end of the day, intelligence and instincts are what separates players..Mark Barron is going to be an elite nfl safety bc of his intangibles..the guy is also the leader and captain of a defense.. Something sorely missing on this team.

Do you think Polamalu's is a good safety? His 40 time and coverage skills aren't considered elite.. Not by any stretch..Inteligence and instincts are what make him amazing..

Polamalu is also given free reign on a traditionally stacked defense. A lot of time he's roaming whereever he wants, pre-snap.

Barron wouldn't be given that freedom here.

idk what his time was before the draft but polamalu has sick in-game speed. his change of direction is awesome, unlike what i've seen from barron.

troy p. gets in trouble because he guesses wrong alot but his athleticism is ridic

Solid point but that isn't the main reason why he's a beast..you can't just out anybody back there ad let them roam around and get that kind of production

First of all, he'll bring to the secondary the leadership and QBing back there that we haven't had since Darren Woodson.

Glory brought up the instinct part that truly separates the elite safeties from the others. Barron has that in spades. Reading and diagnosing the play is more important than having get up speed. Being able to do the former gives you a great jump on the ball. Naturally you want a safety to have both, but those guys are extremely rare.

Basically Barron brings everything to the table, and the ability to do those things very well, other than the ability to mirror receivers in coverage. If he had that last part, he'd be a top 5 pick and well out of our range.

so 8 more years of watching division opponents isolate him in coverage and pick on him all day?

Pretty much, if you aren't expecting getting Eric Berry at the 14th pick, you should be sold on Barron.

He ran a 4.3 coming out of the greatest university in the nation.

Barron is nowhere near Polamalu's level.

They've got this amazing thing now, its called the internet. Information is just there for the taking by everyone.

He' a damn good player from a damn good team. He's been extremely well coached by a defensive guy who specializes in DB's. He makes all the secondary calls in a complex scheme. He can hit and play in space, and has a 3yr history of making plays on the football, something this defense sorely lacks. His picks come on plays where he went and got the ball, not lucky tips or deflections where he just happened to be in the right place.

There's a reason guys like Mayock are moving him into their top-10

do you mean other than the fact that I've watched the Giants find ways to iso their TE on our terribad man coverage safeties for the past 5 years?

If Barron is here, safety play will be improved.
