Philly will be starting 2 rookies one a 6th round pick and a veteran who has not started since 2009 should they be griping?

Like us, they are starting their first round pick. The other guys are only starting because of injuries to Jamaal Jackson, Winston Justice, and Ryan Harris. Not quite the same thing.

Jamaal Jackson: Demotion ‘not tough at all’
Posted on August 30, 2011 by Geoff Mosher

"On Monday night, Michael Vick’s historic contract announcement caused an abrupt shift in coverage plans, with the Vick story essentially kicking the main story about the offensive line into a smaller piece on the inside of sports.

Cut from the coverage was a small but significant segment that chronicled Jamaal Jackson’s reaction to losing his starting center job to sixth-round rookie Jason Kelce, who hasn’t yet played a down of meaningful NFL football."

Jackson is coming off of injuries. That's why he was "demoted".

Jackson has held the starting center spot since 2006 but comes off two major surgeries. He missed the last two games of the 2009 season after tearing his anterior-cruciate ligament and he missed almost the entire year last season after he tore his triceps in the opener against Green Bay.

Uhhh, sorry? Yes you are.

Really this is your argument?

So the fact that they chose to replace Jackson with a 6th rd pick is going for it and we are all doom and gloom because of Nagy.

Lets just forget about the fact that they tried to protect there 100 million dollar QB's blind side with a guy who had back issues and will now do it with a guy who played Guard.

You are clutching at straws now so I will end this discussion.

If Nagy was starting because two or three of the veteran players we planned on starting were hurt, I wouldn't be upset. Our plan was Holland (garbage), Arkin, or Nagy from the get go. That is and always was my issue. You compared us to the Eagles O-Line situation. They were impacted by injuries. We were impacted by planning. Not sure how that is clutching at straws.

This is not entirely true. They could have moved Gurode to LG but chose not to, because they thought Nagy had performed well enough. They also could have resigned Leonard Davis for a much cheaper deal, and chose not to.

Your theory doesnt really add up.

The only injury was to a guy who has a history of back trouble how is that planning in a year where you are going for it?

That is the most important position on there o-line the QB's blind side and your claiming they really addressed the position by signing Harris?

So lets look at Center, are you saying they knew that a 6th round draft choice would fit right in if Jackson was hurt?

The fact remains they are scrambling to field a complete o-line in a year where they are going for it after having plenty of cap space.

Nagy is only starting because of an injury to Holland who has started more games than Mathis has over the last 2 years.

they didn't do any of those things you suggested we could have done. Our faith in Nagy is my issue. Our lack of planning or poor planning is my issue. If we brought back Leonard Davis and Nagy beat him out in camp, I don't have an issue. He beat out no one.

Mathis has started 7 games over last 2 years, Holland 2. Mathis has played in 25 games over last 2 years, Holland 14.

By the way, my initial point was the Eagles made more of an attempt to upgrade their roster than we did this off-season. I've yet to see anyone prove that wrong.

I think its safe to say the Eagles can gamble a little bit with their OLine being as they have the best scrambler this league has EVER seen.

We, on the other hand, have a pocket passer. We should probably do our best to protect him.

Romo has more pocket presense than Vick has ever dreamed of having. He takes alot of hits that he never even sees coming.

Your blindly speculating again, but whatever

And Nagy wasnt inserted into the starting lineup on day one of camp either. Holland was expected to start with Kosier and when Holland got hurt, they tried Arkin there. And Arkin played well in his only start, it wasnt like the guy was a trainwreck.

We did try to sign guys like NA and Eric Weddle cmd, so it isnt like we didnt try to upgrade more.

And keeping Free was absolutely critical, losing him would have been a serious downgrade.

The "best scrambler this league has EVER seen" was sacked 34 times---tied for 5th---IN 12 GAMES---that's 2.8 sacks per game which had he played the entire season, would have put him at 44 sacks, and thus second only behind Cutler's 52. Considering that Vick has a propensity of getting hurt, which is often a result of his scrambling, add to the fact that he is now older, teams have figured him out---he started to fade near the end of the season, and he just signed a $100 million contract, the Eagles CANNOT afford to gamble with their Oline.
