To each their own

I don’t want to see the Steelers pull even further ahead of us in Super Bowl wins, I don’t want to see the Pats surpass us in Super Bowl wins, and I NEVER want to see the Eagles ever , let me repeat, ever fucking ever win a Super Bowl and get their first ring

I don't think its a given either of those teams wins it. The Vikes and Saints could both give either of those teams really good games.

Yeap. Both solid clubs. Be interesting to see how it turns out in Minnesota.

I'll tell what draws young fans to this abortion....fucks like me. Fucks like me who instill my sense of fandom and loyalty into my kids and other young family members. I've condemned them to a life of NFL misery. Except my son has seen what the Cowboys are as he got older. I would never be able to walk away from a game when I was his age but I've seen the kid get up and do something else rather than watch. I give him credit. Smart kid.

I hear you. Who do you like in Minnesota today??

I hate Garrett and want him gone, but to say he didn't work up the ranks is pretty lame. He was a NFL player for a long time, then a QB coach, then an OC and then a HC. That's a fairly normal progression and one many people take.

Pederson was a "Quality Control Coach" for a couple of years before he was a QB coach. That means he was the resident lackey for the coaching staff. He did all the grunt work for very little money. Reid saw something and promoted him to QB coach. He didn't assume he knew how to be a QB coach because he was a QB in the NFL. And then Reid liked him enough to bring him to KC as OC. And, as I mentioned before, he wasa HS football coach. It's not nearly the same.

Pretty sure if you go look up how coaches go through the ranks there Dodger, you'll see dozens and dozens of examples of guys who did what Garrett did.

Now he's proven he isn't worth a shit and should be fired, but he had a progression that's pretty typical.

Show me. Show me a guy that had a total of 2 years coaching experience that went on to become OC for an NFL team. And experience includes coaching experience. Yes, HS, College, etc. I don't think you'll find one but I could be wrong.

Honestly, with a short stint as QB coach in Miami, all Garrett's coaching experience has been with the Cowboys and that is because of ole Jerry boys fixation with him.

I wouldn't have a problem with that if he was actually good, but he's proven he isn't any good.

Agreed. Jerry is the only reason he has a job as HC. He was never qualified.

The Ravens and Falcons both wanted him as HC after the 2007 season.

But today I cant imagine anyone in the NFL giving him another shot as a HC, and probably not even as a coordinator. Once he gets run from here I suspect he is destined for the college game, or maybe work in a scouting department.

Ole Tom was the Giants DC for 5 yrs before joining the Cowboys.

Right, Dodger said show him someone who got a coordinator job with less than two yrs coaching experience. Landry was a player-coach for one yr and then DC.

Small sample size but Garrett appears woefully inexperienced yet exceptionally fast tracked:

Mike Patricia

1996-1999: Patricia remained at RPI to begin his coaching career as a graduate assistant in 1996. He spent the next two years as an application engineer with Hoffman Air & Filtration Systems in East Syracuse, New York. Much sought-after in engineering circles, he received a $100,000-a-year offer to maintain nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers with the Westinghouse Electric Company

1999-2000: return to football as the defensive line coach for Amherst College

2001-2004: Syracuse University as an offensive graduate assistant for the team

2004-2005: Patriots offensive coaching assistant

2005-2006: Patriots' assistant offensive line coach.

2006-2011: Patriots linebackers coach

2011-2012: Patriots safeties coach

2012-2018, Patriots defensive coordinator, though he had been calling the plays on defense since the departure of Pees following the 2009 season.

(The Patriots won three Super Bowls with Patricia: Super Bowl XXXIX, and Super Bowl LI)

Sean McVay

2008-2010: assistant wide receivers coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2009-2010: wide receivers/quality control coach for the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League (UFL)

2010-2011: assistant tight ends coach for the Washington Redskins

2011-2013: Redskins tight ends coach

2014-2016: Redskins Offensive coordinator

2017: LA Rams head coach

Jason Garrett

2005–2006: quarterbacks coach for the Miami Dolphins

2007-2010: Dallas Cowboys as offensive coordinator

2011-2018: Dallas Cowboys head coach

Someone will hire him. It will be interesting to see how his two year stint in Cleveland goes after he’s done pulling the many pitchforks out of his ass from finally getting run out of town here.
