Albright faces surgery: Nearly a month after defensive end Tyrone Crawford suffered a season-ending torn Achilles tendon, the Cowboys have learned that another defender is lost for the season.

Jones said linebacker Alex Albright faces back surgery that will sideline him.

“I don’t know all of the details, but I know it’s a significant injury,” Jones said. “He’s out for the season.”

This sucks because I was high on Albright. Higher than most, probably.

But we're stacked at LB and we were probably going to cut a good one in either Sims or sliding Magee to the PS or something. Now we don't have to risk that.

I personally think he'd make a better DE behind Ware than LB.

All the talk I heard/read was that he was basically a roster lock and the last linebacker spot was going to come down to Sims or one of the rooks.

The team really liked Albright.

He didn't offer much in terms of the defense, anyway. His niche was special teams. And we probably would have kept 7 LBers because of that. Lee, Carter, Durant, Sims, Holloman, McGee, and Albright. Now, we can rightfully keep 6, and use that roster spot elsewhere.
