we don't even know if there are hiden planets within our solar system, I dont expect people 1000's of years ago to get everything right. God was talking too fast

When you take out all morality from education except what you deem appropriate, religion or not. You are left with kids that blow up schools, attack teachers, are undereducated due to no fear of failure, an entitlement populace... oh wait.
Picking apart a book that has for 1000's of years set in motion how the world views killing each other, stealing, revenge, jealous, slothfulness, etc etc and saying it should be ignored, because killing gay people and stoning people is completely looking over the rule of law it set forth by which most of the world still follows to an extent.
Back then laws had to be ruthless, otherwise you had someone taking everything from everyone else without repercussion or with insane behavior in retaliation. You had folks eating the wrong food, that would kill them or make them sick. You had folks getting sick for whole variety of reasons.
If you can get past the point that folks say God said so and get to the point where the 10 commandments actually make sense in their entirety to what should be every living soul on this planet then maybe you can get past trying to make everyone believe that the world just suddenly appeared out of nothing and that the big bang theory and creation theory have way more in common than not.
I'm not asking you to be a Christian, I'm not telling you either. But without the bible there would have been chaos in this world and to use the fact that there have been people through out time to use it or some other theology to kill a ton of people doesn't take away the good that it has done in the meantime. There would have just been another reason given for the senseless killing of whomever you feel sorry for.
