Without a doubt...nein.

A blue chipper will be there for us at 9, and the only conceivable way for me to sanction a trade up would be to get a blue-chipper.

We need to think about drafting smarter, not cuter.

What don't you get? I'm saying the draft fell exactly as how you would select. So only you can tell me who is available at 40 and whether you would take either of the two players I mentioned.

But SBK, I don't know how the draft is going to go as far as the first 39 picks.

I don't think the need for either player is greater than some of the other needs on the team like OT, OG, DE and Safety.

I don't think anyone does, Mike.

This is probably one of the more undecided which player goes number one in the draft and so on in a long time.

I mean if it's a QB with the first pick which I doubt, things will be change drastically, from 1 to 32 in the first round we really have no clue what teams are taking, we just like to create scenarios.

So you're incapable of doing your own mock?

What's with this needs business? I'm talking about the NFL Draft. Where you build your talent base. You must be thinking about veteran free agency.

OLB is a huge need for this team anyway.

We have a total of 1 player there who can get to the QB with any consistency.

In a 3-4 defense.

That can't be allowed to continue.

Neither guy may represent the best value at pick #40...

I'm starting to like that Dontay Moch at 40 scenario. :towel

This team was 16th when it came to sacking the QB.

It was 31st vs the pass... Big difference.

Safety is a bigger need.

So is offensive line and defensive end.

My purpose here was to talk about two guys nobody's mentioning as potential targets for the Cowboys at 40, but their rising stock just might have them in play with that pick.

I'm not understanding why those stats led you to that conclusion.

Your right though Moch should be projected to go anywheres from 32 to 45.

I know you think sacks are a cure-all for all defensive woes vs the pass.

But face it, this team wasn't atrocious when it came to sacking the QB. It was merely average.

However vs the pass, the defense gave up 7.7 yards per attempt for 29th in the NFL.

Yes more sacks would be nice, but unless the pass defense is improved, i.e. better safety play and better coverage by the ILBers, the defense will continue to be very suspect.

I don't think sacks are the cure all. I think defensive pressure from the front seven is a cure all. A DL that shuts down the run and makes an offense one dimensional. Then the pass rushers get after and harrass the QB. Never giving him a comfortable pocket to operate in. That's the only way you can play successful defense in this day and age. You can not out cover offenses. You have to hit the QB.
