Lets say the first 39 picks go the way you expected. Whatever that is. So there's no sliding steals on the board, in your opinion.

The Cowboys use the 40th pick in the draft on Dontay Moch DE/OLB Nevada.

Good, bad or ugly?

And the same question with Brooks Reed DE/OLB Arizona.

I ask because I feel these are two rapidly rising players at a position of need for this team.

I'd be all for it. Can't have enough good pass rushers, and besides that our LB (inside and out) is atrocious. I'd give a thumbs up to either guy you mentioned.

if no one slips and your scenario comes true, Moch would be a pretty good pick.

Ware on one side and Mooch's speed on the other? Uh oh...

Only reason why I don't like Dontay Moch is that we already have an undersized pass-rusher in Victor Butler.

Now if we could convert him to ILB that would be great.

That's what's so tempting. Ware, the freak, on one side and a guy like Moch on the other.

It's easy to call him a workout warrior, but the guy had 30 sacks in his collegiate career.

I'd say bad. OLB is further down the scale on positions of need for this team.

It all depends...

Who else is available at #40?

Who did the Cowboys select in the 1st round?

What does the new defensive staff think of Spencer?

I could see Dallas selecting an OLB/DE with this pick, but more easily see them going in a different direction.

Give me a nice OT or G that slipped into round 2 and this guy in round 4 and we come out better, IMO.

And we definitely know why on your part. I doubt that you even watched either of them play.

I explained why already. We already have a smallish OLB in Victor Butler. I don't want to spend another pick on a guy the coaches barely want to play because they fear how he will hold up against the run.

Now Reed has had his struggles against the run, but at 263 and benching 30 reps of 225, I must attribute that to lack of technique in college as opposed to lack of bulk and strength.

Moch is 248---let's just say 250. He can probably put on an extra 5 lbs. Personally, I'd be fine with either one, just not at #40, when we have other holes to fill.

If we could have either later, I'd be thrilled. Our D needs a serious infusion of pass-rushing talent.

Yeah...so....

Let's say the first 39 picks go the way you expected.

I should have added that to the original post.

Who else is available who represents a good value?

If you've got 3 guys at the #40 spot who aren't separated by much in the way of value, then I'm going with the one who fills the most immediate need on the team.

If a DE/OLB is head & shoulders above a guard or a safety or a 3-4 DE then I'm going with the DE/OLB. But I don't think it's going to happen that way.

What don't you get? I'm saying the draft fell exactly as how you would select. So only you can tell me who is available at 40 and whether you would take either of the two players I mentioned.
