Cooper Rush isnt getting some big pay day. He was already a free agent once recently and nobody did it then either.

This....I mean, he was picked up by the Giants in the 2020 offseason due to Garrett being there but the dude was released before the season and put on the practice squad and then came back to Dallas. We're the only team in the NFL that overvalues this bum. He offers a very limited ceiling as a back up.

Rush is lucky if he'll get picked up by another team. He's way too limited physically to be a high paid #2.
I think when he was a free agent last time (after 2022 season) the only team that made him an offer was the Bungles.

This time I guess I could see him getting an offer from Helen Moore if he lands in New Orleans. But I doubt he garners much interest league-wide.

Yep, very limited.

If Scary Jones dicked me out of a quarter to a half million dollars in incentives in the final game of the season I’d leave his sorry ass too.

That's my point. If the worst GM in the NFL doesn't see fit to keep a "quality" back up happy for 250k, why would any other team throw millions at him? Jerry might because Rush offers no competition or stress for Dak. Dak is fragile like that.

I don't doubt there is truth to this.

That said, I do think this might be the yr we draft another QB (probably on Day 3)

I think he means Rush on the free agent market will be one of highest paid QB2’s and I tend to agree

Monte, did I read that right in another thread that you're 67? All of us here are older fans so good on you for engaging the site. Rush reminds me of a slightly better version of Babe. A real coach/GM like Jimmy immediately knew he needed a quality backup after the Babe debacle when we should have made the playoffs that year and picked up Beuerlein. I don't know if Lance is the answer but I do know we should be taking fliers at QB in the draft on a more consistent basis.

Actually I turn 66 in a couple weeks. I hear what you’re saying about Rush compared to Babe. Rush made 2.5 million with Cowboys I think there’s a team out there that would pay him close to double that to be their backup. We will see I guess

Is he about the only one floating around out there who has a winning record? I'm 100 percent sure he won't be back with us next season.

I don’t know what Jerruh was thinking trading for Trey Lance? Think we can trust him as backup?

He has all the physical tools in spades and throws a beautiful ball. Fantastic arm. Problem I see is he's a little bit lacking between the ears especially when on the fly quick decisions are needed. I don't know if this can be mitigated via coaching.

He's a poster boy for why they really need to return to the wonderlic and pay heed to it.

I’ve always toyed with the idea 💡 of converting him to another position

He definitely has wheels if he can catch the ball might make a pretty good 2 or 3 but, nobody converts black quarterbacks in the NFL they're too worried about optics.

And yes they'd rather he languish as a 3rd string backup QB than get converted to a useful position.

If I were Jerry I'd see if I can let him play in the UFL this spring where no doubt he'll be a starter and hone his grey matter.

I like your UFL idea. With new administration converting black quarterbacks might come back into style

I'd rather have Trey Lance as QB2 than Rush.
