He is playing much better. He has gotten stronger and has gained confidence. I know he has been a disaster up to this year, but give the guy his props. He is playing very well. Sure his next contract matters to him, but if he continues to play this well and stays healthy his price is going way up. I believe he has figured out what it takes to be a successful NFL corner. Dallas fans have hated every corner not named Sanders. They hated Newman and he is still playing at a high level.

Butler had a good game until that clusterfuck penalty and then the bad dropped TD

That was a perfect pass, he's gotta catch that in that situation.

I'm not sure he appreciated Dez getting in his face after the missed TD opportunity. On TV he looked pissed. Dez trying to be a leader is fine and good, but all the baggage that guy carries is a problem. I wish someone could get through to Dez. He is the ultimate knucklehead.

Don't let Dooms catch you saying anything positive about Mo Claiborne
Because what will I do? Oh yeah, correct it. Claiborne's just been dumb lucky so far this season. But I get it, lots of people equate dumb luck with improvement. I don't happen to agree with that. Teams still know he is a huge liability in coverage and still take deep shots at him. That he's been lucky and the passes have either been overthrown, massively underthrown like his pick was, or get dropped - doesn't say anything about what a good job he did. It says volumes about how lucky he's been so far this season.
I can see the future....

We completely ignore Claibornes first 4 seasons, and over pay him based on his contract year performance. Next year he goes back to the same ol same ol scrub.
You may not want to hear it but they likely bring him back.
You're both probably right, because Jerry has a soft spot for dumb players and doesn't ever want to admit failure with one of them. Plus Claiborne will again be a bargain - outside of Dallas there's not a market for dumb players..

I've seen the same thing. He's getting low and holding on by himself. He's not going to be any sort of incarnation of Jack Tatum but he's getting it done without whiffing.

But here's my question. Would Dallas be better off in the secondary with 38 year old Terence Newman or the current Claiborne? I'm watching Newman and he still plays well. Not shutdown but certainly better than Liz Claiborne.

I think the fact that Newman is still going pretty strong has a lot to do with Zimmer. Zimmer has always known exactly how to use Newman. So to answer you're question, I'd rather have Zimmer.
