you think dallas shouldve drafted zeke over ramsey ?
at that time, yes..obviously we'd have been far better off taking Ramsey now, but Zeke was a great player as a rookie and carried the Cowboys to the playoffs

and that's also why I said it depends on how good the RB is and who else is available...

Right now, other than the Hunter kid I dont see anyone else near as good as Jalen Ramsey then...this does not appear to be a great draft so you have to draft the best players you can get the most impact from...Jeanty looks like a guy who could have a big impact on this team overall...

also depends on who the new HC is

if the cowboys draft jeanty, you need to hope that they have a good defense. youre not going to run the ball if you're playing from behind

how good is jeanty going to be, and for how long? zeke gave dallas maybe 4 good years

RB is a position that depreciates faster than any other

RB is also a position that has historically been easy to replace or replicate the production of a single person with a community approach

if the cowboys drafted ramsey, maybe he would've helped to stop rodgers on that final drive in the playoffs

Dont disagree that finding good or at least dependable RB's is not (or shouldnt be) that hard...but if there's somebody that's truly special you can't ignore that either. Jeanty looks like he might be on tape.

As for shelf life, Henry has shown he has shelf life. So did Emmitt. So did Dorsett. So did many others. And they all ran the ball a ton and took a huge pounding.

This does look like a fairly solid RB draft, so odds are they could nab one in the 2nd or maybe even 3rd rd. But Jeanty could potentially be a game changer, and we need more game changers. The guy breaks off long runs almost every single week, sometimes multiple times in a week. He's a TD machine.

As for your last comment, had the red headed idiot given the ball to Zeke 30+ times as he should have, we'd have won that game. GB couldnt stop him at all (and he shredded them in the game we won in GB too).

i agree that guys like henry and adrian peterson are freaks of nature, they break the mold. emmitt and dorsett are from way different eras, football isnt the same game now as it was then... you know this

but, defense still wins championships

look at the value the league puts on it. RB is just ahead of kicker and punter as far as pay grade. they are not valued like they once were

i will compromise in one area... the new age RB is very productive. the new age RB is one that can run and catch at elite levels. mccaffery, bijan robinson, etc... so if jeanty is that type of player, then you draft them if he falls into the 2nd round :)

He's not a 1yr wonder either. Had over 800 yds and 7 tds as a FR, last yr had 1340+ yds, 14 rushing tds (+5 more receiving) and averaged 6.1 per carry.

This SEASON he is now at 2062 yds, a ridiculous 27 tds (+1 receiving) averaging a crazy 7.5 yds per rush on 275 attempts.

Not a one dimensional player either. Had 43 receptions (mentioned 5 tds above) last yr. They have not used him much as a receiver this year though. Has 4 (FOUR) 200+ yd games this year and went for 192 against #1 Oregon in a game Boise almost won.

Did we drop to pick 13?

Speaking for myself, absolutely NOT.

There are not that many 1st round RBs that start. Who did I miss?

Christian McCaffrey
Najee Harris
Saquon Barkley
Travis Etienne Jr.
Josh Jacobs
Bijan Robinson
Jahmyr Gibb

But at the end of the day, I just want good players who can make plays. I wouldn't be pissed if Jeanty fell to Dallas.

IDK, Zeke was running behind an excellent OL back then. DeMarco Murray, who was good but not great, also did well behind pretty much the same OL.

Derrick Henry was taken in round 2 AFTER our great GM took Jaylon Smith!

I understand hindsight is 20/20 but our GM is pathetic. You're trying to win the Super Bowl and you draft a player in round 2 who can't get on the field.

What if they had gone Ramsey and Henry?

thats what I wanted and probably the last draft I had any shits left to give after the stupid J Smith pick
The Smith pick was absolutely stupid.

Thank the football gods that Jerry failed at getting Paxton Lynch! Just a few names after Smith came off the board.

Some for sure. Others he has nothing to do with (think Johnny Manziel, when he was literally the only one in the room that wanted to draft him)

In 1998 Jones wanted to trade up for FSU DE Andre Wadsworth and offered two firsts and a second. Those picks ended up being Greg Ellis, Flozelle Adams and Ebenezer Ekuban. Ekuban was never really above average, but Ellis and Adams were both excellent players who had long term careers. Wadsworth was considered by most to be a "generational" type talent at DE even though he only had one big season in college. The Cards GM declined the trade and made the comment "do you think we're that stupid to just hand Dallas the Super Bowl?".

Wadsworth was never a good NFL player and was out of the league altogether after only 3 seasons.
