Based on early rumors (let's realize that a lot of bullshit this time of year), it is looking as if those of us who want Jeanty to be the pick not only have to hope that Jeanty is there, but also that McMillan is not there.

Early indications are that Dallas would prefer not to spend 12 on a RB.

I wonder how much Stephan Diggs is wanting? Would he be extra flexible to be able to finish his career with Trevon?
Its almost 50 days till the draft, those decisions have definitely not been made and probably not even thought about.

Diggs seems pretty washed to me and is coming off a major injury. I'd like to see us go the vet WR route but would rather see us go after someone better than Diggs.

Prescott's restructure just processed. Another 37 mils in cap space created.

Caught this snippet in an article a few minutes ago. Dak really does have Drunk GM and Cap Boy over a barrel...

Prescott’s cap hits in 2026, 2027, and 2028 are now above $70MM, giving him leverage to negotiate another extension in the next two years.

DK Metcalf also just asked for a trade. His contract voids after this season and his 2025 salary is 18 mils.

Might be worth watching.
Metcalf is clearly the better player and closer to his prime, but I think Lockett is more likely for the following reasons...

1) He'll be much cheaper
2) We wouldn't have to give up any draft capital
3) As he's been released he wouldn't count against us when it comes to working out the compensatory draft picks in 2026

He's old and hasn't had a single play over 40 yds since 2021. Jalen Tolbert is better than him at this point.

He will obviously be here this yr and maybe next yr, but he won't be here after the 2026 season.

He has no guaranteed salary remaining after this season so while cutting him would create a hug dead money scenario, they could actually dump him after June 1st next yr and make it work.

Signing Lockett is not something I would want the team to do, but it's a signing I could definitely see Schottenheimer pushing for given their history.

I’m hearing rumors of Cowboys looking 👀 at Alabama QB Milroe? I’ve never been much of a fan of his inaccurate arm or his decision making.
What"s the difference from that $60 million quarterback we have now?!

DK is a freak athlete that cant run routes and he is going to want a >$30 mil AAV

i feel that diggs is washed

davante adams nah. i heard about his +/- catch radius stats. he went from best to worst in the last few years. hes washed. he was force fed in NY and now their real #1 WR wants to be traded.

lockett, kupp, or keenan allen possibly as a vet presence but he hasnt won anything

best of the bunch of FA WR's to me is probably godwin but he is going to cost a lot and has had some injury issues

there are other teams in on the WR market that are hungrier and have more money than dallas so i dont expect anybody to come here

our FA acquisition was the mingo trade last year

Diggs played very well for the Texans. Sure, the injury is a concern, but Trevon has also been injured. So what I am saying there is that this is the NFL, players get hurt. Stephon's injury was an ACL. Before the injury, he had recorded 47 receptions for 496 yards. That happened in week 8. So, he was on course to have a 1000 or more yard season and nearly 100 catches or more.

Based on reports, he is expected to make a full recovery. True, he might not be ready for week 1,but that is another reason for a discount.

Stephon's injury isn't in the Overshown class. Overshown tore multiple ligaments in his right knee: the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL), and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL).

So that is a spot that must be addressed. Overshown might say the right things, but the body is the body. If we can get Diggs at a discount, it frees up some cash. We should basically consider Overshown out for 2025, and possibly for good.

So anyway, McMillan at 12 would likely be cheaper than Diggs or anyone else, hence, taking him does make sense. They could take Hampton in round 2 or even wait longer.

I do think they have thought about it already. If they haven't, then someone needs to be fired. Well, Jerry might be thinking about the Red Cross, who knows.

CJ Stroud went on record saying he wants Diggs back. Usually, a QB will just shut up about it if the player is washed. He'd say something like, "that's above my paygrade, we'll see what happens", but Sroud said it without even being asked, if I recall correctly (could be wrong).

It would come down to how much.
