^^^ This is what McCarthy was talking about during the offseason. More rush attempts than opponent, fewer turnovers (total) and fewer picks.
Notice that more rush ATTEMPTS correlates more to a higher winning percentage than more rushing YARDS.
On the other hand, some of the numbers were killed it on in recent years under Moore (more pass yards, more pass attempts and completions, more first downs, more total yards) do not correlate to a higher winning %.
We're close to our depth running thin. Not quite there yet. We still have a good secondary. We might even be able to lose one more and be okay (but it can't be Gilmore), but not more than that.IIRC Quinn said one of the reasons they liked Igbinoghene (over Joseph) was because they felt like he had more upside as an outside CB. He may get his chance.
Bland is an outstanding nickel CB and like Diggs, has playmaking ability (albeit not at that level) but I do wonder if he'll be exposed some by better WR's. Not sure what we are going to get from Lewis, he had a major injury and literally just came back. I think he had 10 plays last week and they mentioned they had him on a snap count.
Edit- The Tyron Smith injury is not fake news, it's on the Cowboys website. Not sure what to expect today. Team is really beat up and there are conflicting reports on exactly how many starting OL will actually play. CZ had a post yesterday that said Tyron Smith is now very questionable today with a knee thing, but there are also posts in that thread that say it might be fake news. Biadasz and Martin are definitely iffy for today (TWO backup centers were called up for this game, which makes me think Biadasz is probably out). Obviously we have the loss of Diggs to deal with as well.
Cards could (and probably should) be 2-0, it definitely won't surprise me if this game ends up much closer than we would all prefer, but really the goal should be get to 4-0 anyway they can and then hope the team is healthier going into San Fran for that SNF game in week 5.
As long as we win and don't suffer any more injuries I'll be happy, even if it ends up something like 17-13 or 20-17.
The most famous bathroom break in America returns...Stupid fuck NFL at it again.
I've had almost this same conversation countless times. The smart Vikings fans are focused on the Twins right now.
