Achane AVERAGES over 9 yds per carry. Mostert averages 5.0
They are going to watch how awful our defense is at runs outside the tackle and do that over and over and over. The Lions have a similar 1-2 type punch and have one of the top 3 or 4 OL's in the league (Miami's ranks very high as well, but they have lost a couple starters the past two weeks on the OL)
The Dolphins rank 4th in the league in rushing yards and the Lions are 2nd. The Bills were down around the middle until today, and the near 300 yd rushing game moved them all the way up to 6th. Miami also ranks 1st in the league in yds per carry and Detroit is 4th.
Well, I wrote I think we have a good shot. I'm not super confident. Will Hankins be back? That will help.
As I've written ebfore, Bufffalo is a tough place to play in December., I get that it didn't snow and it was 50 degrees or so. But I lived there. I know how the wind can be calm one second, then a gust hits the next second.
For example, we do have a good secondary and a vicious pass rush, but Josh Allen throwing for only 95 yards likely wasn't all because of that or because they had the lead.
Mostly, I think we have a good shot against Miami because the conditions to throw should be good in Miami. Now, I get that Miami is also a high powered passing game. But, Tua isn't as good as Dak (don't give me stats. I go by what I see, not stats).
If we can show that we are effective in the passing game and, of course, score, and if we can hold the running game somewhat in check, it allows our pass rush to tee off.
Our OL should hold up against Miami's D line. Zack martin should be fine.
Believe it or not, it has been said that Miami's best OL is Connor Williams. Yes, our Conner Williams. He was playing center for them. He's out for the year.
Now, I've always liked Connor. I thought he was playing out of position and he should have been at RT and La'el should have been at G. BUt "their best OL"?
Hopefully, our DL can take advantage of that.
