I don't hate the Luke Schoonmaker pick. He was someone I thought we might look at if the other TE's got scooped up although I thought it was a tad early for him. But he's a Harbaugh TE. I loved Harbaugh TE's at Stanford and I like them from Michigan, why? Because he coaches his TE's to be like NFL TE's. They are a huge part of his blocking schemes and almost all of them turn into quality receiving TE options (the Stanford TE's continued to be good prospects after he left because of David Shaw, like Dalton Schultz was)
Schoonmaker also tested incredibly well and our TE coach Lunda Wells said Schoon had the best blocking fundamentals of any TE in the draft. I think we are all going to be pleasantly surprised with him, really the only downside to him is he's already 24, but I believe George Kittle was a little older when the Niners got him too.
Love the Overshown pick and so did many other draft/personnel people, including ESPN's Louis Reddick. He'll be a massive upgrade over Jabril Cox and may find his way onto the defense in some sub packages as a rookie. Was a former safety, can run and cover and as Daniel Jeremiah pointed out Texas utilized him as a spy on the QB the past two seasons alot, and he excels at it.
