He was given the job last season without any competition, and coming off of an injury.

So I wouldn’t put anything past this coaching/ front office group when it comes to their pet cats.
They clearly underestimated the extent of his offseason surgery, but apparently even the docs that did the surgery firmly believed he'd be 100% before week one. He either had a setback somewhere or the injury was worse than they thought.

That said, it was fairly obvious after the Tampa game he wasn't right and they probably should have shut him down for awhile then, but didn't. That said, the other guys the special teams coach "liked" that people got their panties in a wad in were the punter and the deep snapper, and both those guys were great additions.

draft season is upon us

i think DAL should be looking at OL/DL early. even after drafting parsons last year, LB is still a huge need. Safety is always a need on defense. depending on what happens with schultz, TE could also be a need.

DAL should prob grab a RB/WR late in the draft too
Not that the mock simulators are 100 percent, but I've been playing around with them for years now and I think people would be surprised by how accurate they can be.

Nobody can predict what trades will happen that will affect who is there, but in almost every mock whether it's on fanspeak Pro Pro Football Network Tyler LinderBaum is there.

If that happens in reality then I think Linderbaum must be the pick. Whenever the Cowboys have had a strong OL they've also had an excellent Center. This goes all the way back to the days of Tom Landry.

Tyler Biadiasz isn't horrible. He certainly isn't as bad as Phil Costa or Ryan Young who were blocking for Tony Romo in the prime of his career, but Tyler Linderbaum should be a significant upgrade.

Linderbaum is listed at 290, but he was born in March of 2000, so he's only 21. I have to believe he'll naturally add pounds without much effort and will easily get to at least 305.

Farniok could be a decent find at center, which makes Biadiasz a possible trade piece for a later pick if I'm right about Farniok. If not, I'm happy with Biadiasz as a backup C/G

The other guy I really like (laugh if you want and call it a wasted pick if you want is QB Bailey Zappe. If you haven't heard of him start doing your research. McCarthy has a West Coast history and I think Zappe is perfect for that system.

No, I am NOT saying draft Zappe to replace Dak! But, I'd take Zappe in round 3 and I think he'd be better than Cooper Rush. IMHO, we all let out a sigh of relief when the Vikings (bad team) somehow couldn't' take advantage of that.

I don't trust Cooper Rush should Dak have to miss significant time and I can't stand it when David Helman says "oh well, let's face it, with most teams if you lose you starter...". I don't; think that ahs to be the case.

And before someone says, "well, they had Andy Dalton and he wasn't any good", Dalton had no camp because of Covid, by the time he played he didn't even have Zack Martin, there were injuries everywhere.

What Bailey Zappe provides is a legit prospect who could work out and give the Cowboys an alternative should Dak once again try to hold out for every penny, which I think he will do because Dak has proven to me he is more about the money, but is smart enough to say the right things in public.

In the meantime, Zappe would hopefully beat out Rush. I don't see it as a wasted pick at all in round 3. If Jerry sees Zappe is coming along then he could offer Zappe an extension in year three of the contract at a cheaper price than what Dak will likely want.

And if you want to know Tom Brady's real secret for winning so much it is that Tom Brady has never held out for every penny.

Brady took less because he knew that would allow Belichick to flexibility to go out and get help for Brady whether it was a special teams demon, a much needed backup, or a starting WR.

I once read that Dak said the reason Tom Brady could take a discount is because Tom Brady has Giselle's money. The fact is Tom Brady played in 4 Super Bowls before he married Giselle.

Dal Prescott would be wise to learn to live on only say 30 million a year if he truly wants championships. And yeah, few of us have confidence that Jerry will use the savings wisely, but it at last provides some flexibility under the cap.

That's my big issue with Dak, Romo, Russell Wilson and all the rest. Don't BS me about being all in on winning a SB when your contract eats up so much of the cap.

nice post aggie

i like drafting zion at OG a little more than linderbaum at C because of having farinok, but its a homerun if DAL lands either of them

According to a report from David Helman it seems Micah Parsons has been playing injured all season long. The report is stating that he hyper extended his knee in preseason against the Rams and that it has been something that he has been dealing with all season long.

I can’t wait to see what this kid can do next season when he is 100% healthy and with another season under Dan Quinn

those were the days....

but even as good as they were. I'd give back all 3 Super Bowls and take my chances with any other owner (especially one that included Staubach) to never have jeri & his spawn have any association and/or ownership of the Cowboys

I wouldn't go that far.

3 super bowls is still 3 super bowls. I doubt we could have possibly done better than Jimmy Johnson and while Jerry fucked it up in the end he did get it right in the beginning.

As much as I loved Landry, he HAD to go and was refusing to retire on his own. An ownership team that included Staubach (or someone like him or so close to Landry) would have been highly unlikely to push him aside.

Jimmy was about to be hired by Schramm so any ownership was likely to do the same, everyone would have drafted Aikman too. I think they'd have a shot at more super bowls (maybe not 3 out of 4) over the last 30+ years & it would have been more fun with ownership by someone like Staubach who despises losing

hope died the day jeri fired jimmy and watching the cowboys has sucked ever since

just look at the mental gymnastics and aggravation you go through every damn year to convince yourself this team will ever do anything, thats just the fan born under Landry driving you and blinding you to the reality that wont ever change, the team we fell in love with is dead and ain't ever coming back, they're just imposters in similar laundry
