The Chargers have requested permission to interview Carrot Top for the HC position

Which would be perfect! It would ensure another decade of mediocrity and failure

You obviously don't understand what they are trying to build there.

I am gonna say Diggs is the only DB that plays the ball in the air instead of his man.
If there was a 5 thumbs up for this , I would give it to you. Absolutely right!!!!! NONE of these defensive backs look back at the football except for Diggs. He is only going to get better with experience, and he has that “ it “ factor we’ve been looking for in this secondary . He will be the leader of this secondary soon.

Here is a table, courtesy of Pro Football Reference, of all our defenders who were targeted at least 10 times by opposing QBs, arranged in order of the QBs passer rating. Diggs was the best.

The Kris Richard treatment
It seems like it's league wide? In HS and college games you see them playing the ball all the time but not very often at all in the pros. You only see rookies doing it. During one game I watched recently Collinsworth was explaining that they DO teach DBs not to do that, the fear being that when you take your eyes off the receiver he might suddenly disappear or something. Might run away from you. He was saying "you can't run as fast looking behind you as you can looking ahead." Or some stupid shit.

Seems counter-intuitive and counter-productive, but might partly explain the idiotic stupid passing stat numbers we've been seeing the last decade or so. Can't have DBs being actually good, it would destroy the "product." Need them to be just front-row spectators and not be someone who affects the outcome of the play. Unless of course, it's a PI. Then it's all good!

Am I the only one who thinks Amari Cooper should be traded? I just do not see any fight in the guy. Sure, he gets lots of yards, but when he needs to get a yard or 2 for the first down or TD, I never seen him put up a fight like Zeke or CeeDee. My #1 WR has to have smoke coming out of his ears in big games.

They even do it with guys in the endzone though. I mean the guy has nowhere else to go, and they still won't play the damn ball the vast majority of the time.

I'd be open to trading him but not for the reason you note. The guy is a really good player and a superior route runner.

We have Cee Dee and we need to retain Gallup, this makes Cooper somewhat expendable if they can get a fair offer.

Because when you fuck with instinct and intuitiveness it fucks them up all the way. You either ball hawk all the time as intuitive habit, or it goes away totally. They don't want them using their brain, instinct or common sense, they just want atomotons out there in the secondary. Professional spectators. "Let 'em catch the ball then make the sure tackle."

Being reported that Spanos family wants to interview Carrot for the HC position. Easy to see why they are bottom 5 owners. Rumors are the Mara family would not mind being rid of him already. Meyer is available and would likely do wonders there but no way they pay the 12 million a year he wants.
Feel for Herbert if this happens...kid has talent

It's not a huge sample size yet but Wilson shows some of that as well.
And Wilson is a thumper ala Earl Thomas...will get him in trouble at time but love the attitude and effort
