would you pay this guy $3M a year?

I would quick fast and a hurry

Dude is horrible vs the pass and has been most of his career. He's only intercepted 4 passes total in his last 5 years and 2 of those seasons were goose eggs despite starting all 32 games. Has one season in his career with double digit passes defensed (his rookie yr, which was his one really good season). Also had a propensity for stupid penalties.

So, no.

This is one of those huge "who gives a fuck" things IMO

I guess it gives whiners who hate Zeke something else to pile on about, but "dog bites person" happens everyday in real life.

In other breaking news, water is wet and the sun sets in the west

Did you see the photos? It's gross.

get real, he's a better hitter and tackler than any DB on this roster

I dont care, he's a zero vs the pass and a knucklehead on and off the field.

Don't need him, nor do I want him here.

if you've never played S, it's mostly about knocking the snot out of people (run / pass) at full speed

as for "vs the pass" ...

how many screens did our DBs blow up in 2019?
when's the last time any of our DBs laid anyone out? or put fear in a WR ... let alone a TE / RB?

we need DBs with ball skills - we also need maniacs back there to knock the ball loose

and I don't mind knuckleheads - as long as they make plays and have a short contract

Yep just what we need, a bunch of free first downs via penalty for unnecessary roughness. This ain't high school ball. You "lay 'em out" you're gonna eat the yellow flag.

Knuckleheads especially.

Its a passing league genius.

The real "hitting" part of the game has been mostly eliminated anyway. No receivers feel intimidated anymore going over the middle because the rules protect them so much.

We need guys who can play in space and make plays on the ball. Interceptions are great, but we need guys who can at least disrupt passing lanes and get passes defensed.

Reid was a really good player as a rookie but he has been a JAG ever since, and he is awful in space.

this secondary does not lack play speed to disrupt passing schemes
they lack just thumbs, and heart ... I HOPE THE DC CHANGE WILL HELP

in our last playoff game this D gave up 270y on the ground, and your scared of a yellow flag .... dude

go watch any tape from 2018 or 2019, how many missed open field tackles?
again Reid takes far better angles than any DB on this team and gets there fast with violent intent

remember the last Philly game?
that wasn't about bad coverage, it was bad tackling
no one is afraid to attack the flats vs the team even with our LBs because the Ss don't (or cain't hit)

this really ain't fantasy football

Wow that's amazing. But when one thinks about that 1990 season, really not so much. That's when Emmitt really hadn't cured his fumbling habit yet, and the o-line hadn't begun to jell yet. Better comparison would be starting with 2nd year for both guys.

Emmitt’s greatness was in the way he took care of his body which lead to his longevity. So even if Zeke has had a better start (several backs have had better starts to their career than Emmitt) I seriously doubt he has the longevity. He doesn’t take care of his body nearly as well as Emmitt did. I expect Zeke to hit that wall within the next 2 years.

taking care of his body is true, but emmitt was also a tough SOB.

in his rookie year, zeke traded shots w/ kam chancellor in his 1st preseason game, but i dont know if zeke could run for +200 yds w/ a separated shoulder to clinch homefield advantage in the playoffs

Zeke hasn’t shown anything that proves he’s has the heart that Emmitt had. I agree his heart (and pain threshold) also made him great. Situational awareness too. Zeke doesn’t seem to have any idea of what the down and distance is on any given series.

Again, if my life depends on winning one game, Emmitt is my TB. He and Irvin had the warrior, win or die trying mentality. That has been in short supply since they retired.

Emmitt's career high fro fumbles was his 2nd yr

But you are right about the OL, and adding Norv his 2nd yr caused Emmitt's massive career takeoff, as well as the rest of offense.

He probably could if Jimmy Johnson were his coach

Reflection of the true dipshit HC and staff we had, don't you think?

If it's one game I gotta win, give me that holy trinity of Troy, Irvin & Emmitt any day over any other 3-some at those positions in league history.

Individually you can argue left and right about better QB, better RB, better WR...but as a group, I don't think there's much of an argument.
