I don't think it's a Biological Weapon in a sense most think of, but I do think it was released with that intent. The Chinese (and Russians) both know that all out war means millions of deaths and potentially a world cataclysm with nuclear weapons, it would also put them both in very bad graces with many other countries across the globe. But both China and Russia want the USA to fail and succumb to their will. I think the true purpose of Covid was to create economic and social chaos, and it's clearly been successful doing that.

I also don't think I agree with Dooms on the Chinese don't care who the Pres is here. I think they clearly would be much happier with a Biden White House than another 4 yrs of Trump. They (and the Russians, Ukraine, N Korea and Iran) all know they have tons of shit on Biden and he would essentially be a puppet for them.

If you were the leader of an enemy foreign nation and you saw Biden fumbling over words, losing his train of thought mid-sentence, taking days off after campaigning for a few hours, and walking like a 90 year old man you would be chomping at the bit to see him elected president. And then you look at who is next in line. Harris may be the least prepared VP in the history of the country. If anything happens to Biden, Harris is in control of the free world. If I was Iran, NK, China or Russia I would be salivated for inauguration day.

Biden announced today that his little task force of "scientists" is going to recommend mandatory face masks. Any states that refuse to go along with it, he will go to mayors and ask them. He says this is so we can get back to work and allow the economy to repair itself. If this is what his scientists are really recommending then he needs new scientists. First, mask do not work by themselves. Wearing masks while standing shoulder to shoulder with other people who may be infected is not going to stop the virus. There are no doctors or scientist who would make that claim. Masks are so we can stand 6 ft apart instead of 10.

Having followed the COVID-19 data since March I can say without equivocation, that using the published data to judge each country's response to the virus is a fools errand. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, and it is obvious from the data, that countries are not compiling data the same way. Countries are not using he same criteria for reporting cases and deaths. It is irrational to believe that India and Germany have COVID case fatality rates that are almost half of what the majority of countries are experiencing. Likewise, it is unreasonable to claim Japan has an infection rate of .08% compared the US, 3.15%, when the US has administered 480,000 tests per million population while Japan has administered less than 23,000 tests per million population. There are several other countries like Japan. It is clear some countries are actively looking for positive tests where others are looking for sick people. Asymptomatic cases are not counted or pursued.

All the chatter about the US response is ill-informed and off base. What we know now is lockdowns do not eliminate the virus. Lockdowns are a means of enforcing social distancing. They slow the spread, but also create an opportunity for a new wave once the lockdowns are lifted. Masks only work with social distancing and only reduce spread by 30% to 70% depending on the masks. Gaiter masks increase spread. Masks do not protect wearers (yet we continue to see people mask shamed and blamed when they contract the virus because they didn't wear masks). 75% to 85% of new infections are people who regularly wear masks. It is unfortunate because scientists, including WHO, say now that social distancing and hand-washing are still more important than wearing masks. But in the US, all the focus, including from Biden and Harris, is on wearing a mask.

To put is more succinctly, when we allowed large protests after the George Floyd death, which continue throughout the summer, we allow the virus to spread wildly throughout the country. Graphs show very clearly that we have flattened the curve in May and then about 6 days after the protests began, cases began to increase all over the country. The crowds spread the virus.

I have to laugh at all the mask mandates. Yes, wear a mask. But does anyone have an issue with folks standing shoulder to shoulder at Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot or big name stores? Amazon is making billions on Covid. Meanwhile, the small business owner is taking it in the short hairs. But big business has lobbyists so you never want to attack them when you talk about trying to slow the spread of the virus.

Bird Flu was the last big scare. We were told that if Bird Flu jumped to humans it would be more deadly than any airborne virus in 1000 years or something like that. That was based on preliminary understanding of the virus. What we learned from CV-19 is that in the beginning when we know nothing people die out of ignorance. As we find ways to treat sick patients, the survivability climbs. Look at the numbers in Europe. People are getting sick at 2 or 3 times the rate they did in March, but deaths are a fraction of what they were. Some of that is more testing. But a lot is we now have ways to treat the disease and while people get very sick, we can keep them alive until they recover.

The show you reference brings up another point. The expectation of spread of the virus is always very high. We can use H1N1 as an example. From the time it was first identified until the time the pandemic ended about a year later, 61 million Americans had been infected. 5 months after the initial infection, 30 million people had been infected.

Compare that to COVID-19. The US has administered 165 million tests and under 11 million people have been infected so far. We are almost 10 months from the initial infection. So either COVID-19 is not as infectious as initially claimed or we have done a pretty good job of slowing the spread. No one believes it is not as infectious as the flu or we wouldn't be wearing masks and shutting down schools, churches, businesses and even family gatherings. The only conclusion to be drawn is we have done a spectacular job of controlling the virus s far. But the evidence shows, in a country or regions like the US or Europe, it is almost impossible to stop the spread of the virus and avoid mass outbreaks. It is too easy to travel today. In the US tens of thousands of people travel between states daily. In Europe, people travel between countries, out of necessity. Before Trump shut down travel from China in January, something like 10,000 people per week were traveling from China to the US. If stopping a contagion with 1 patient zero is hard, imagine how hard it is when you have thousands of patients zero. And this doesn't even factor in the people coming from Europe who were exposed to the virus from people traveling from China to Europe, like what happened in Lombardi, Italy.

What I have been trying to hammer home in all my COVID posts is that no one is going to stop the spread of this virus in the US and anyone who says they can is full of crap and exploiting the virus for his own benefit. Yeah, I am talking about Joe Biden. Yesterday, the US had another record number of new cases, around 183,000 in one day. This is still just the beginning. Within a month we will be seeing about 300,000 new cases per day. Again, we are simply experiencing what Europe has already seen. Europe is beginning its downward trend although cases are still very high. But trust me, once Europe is out of t his wave and the US is in the middle of its own second wave, the media will use Europe as a comparison against the US to bash someone - probably Trump. They will ignore and forget about Europe's massive outbreak. It is stupid and certainly not science.

Now look at the states hardest hit. Texas, California, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio... actually, it's almost all of them. This virus is making a fool out of "scientists" claiming to have an answer. The fact is states with mask mandates are getting hit as hard, or harder, as states with no mask mandates. As I have posted, the emphasis on mask wearing has probably done more harm than good because a mask is not the most effective way to stop the virus. It is only nominally effective and ineffective without social distancing and hygiene. The emphasis should have always been on social distancing, not wearing a mask. Although a mask does help. But in this very politically charged country, the mask became a political symbol and now the country will pay the price for this ignorance.

And for those who think this virus is not as deadly as the flu, or less so than the flu, the number of serious and critical cases jumped over 32,000 yesterday. The country has never seen that number over 20,000 in the past. While we have gotten better at treating patients, some still die. Be prepared for extraordinary death counts coming very soon. Already, over 1,000 people are dying per day from COVID. We may see that number jump to 5,000 before this wave is over. The current death toll in the US is about 250,000. The number is going to approach 400,000 before next spring - and there is nothing Joe Biden or anyone else can do about it.

For the record, I am not for lock downs, mask mandates, mandating the vaccine etc. I don't think any of that would be effective and they are exercises in doing something to make it seem like we are doing something. Protect the elderly and people with underlying conditions as much as possible. That seems to be a lesson we have not learned as we are seeing new outbreaks in nursing homes all across the country.

This article is very deceiving and also factually incorrect. The article states "the state's COVID-19 death rate is among the worst in the world." This is simply not true. ND's death rate is 953 per million in population. SD's is 702. In the US, NJ is the worst at 1873 and NY is second at 1747. ND ranks 8 in the US and SD ranks 21st! In the world, NY and NJ would rank 1 and 2 as well. To argue that these two small states have it so bad while ignoring the two east coast states is extremely dishonest. But why would someone write an article this inaccurate and deceiving?

Because the governors of these two states have defied the user if government authority to remove liberty from the people. Christie Noem is a potential presidential candidate for 2024. The media is helping Democrats already to destroy her. She has said she will not use any state resources to police and federal mandates to wear masks or otherwise curtail freedom in her state. So, she must be punished and the media jumped right on that with this article.

The authors blame Sturgis, the big bike rally that takes place every year which was held in August. Once again, an event was blamed for spreading COVID-19, but all the riots and protests - and recent celebrations of the election result - are never a reason for spread. This is not just hypocrisy. It is dishonesty. It is propaganda because it is an attempt to shape the way people think to suit an agenda.
