watch roquan destroy the combine and jump into the top 10, nowhere near where dallas could take him

That's what I was thinking. He helped his stock last night for sure.

Roquan should go right after the run on QBs. Best hope for us would be Christian Kirk or Calvin Ridley @ 19.

I think Roquan would make one of the most immediate and biggest impacts in the draft. This team is desperate for LB upgrades and he likely puts this defense maybe in the top 10. I also think he goes top 12 particularly if he runs well during work outs. That said with 10 picks, this would be a good year to move up. Good thing we smashed those Eagles, huh?

SportsDay: This might be the best solution to Cowboys WR Dez Bryant's contract
By Jean-Jacques Taylor , Special contributor

Where does Dak need to improve the most?

JJT: He has to work on his fundamentals and mechanics this offseason so that he's a more consistent passer. I'm not just talking about throwing balls that are catchable, it's about hitting guys in stride so they can make yards after the catch. That said, any quarterback from Tom Brady to Aaron Rodgers is going to struggle when he has to play from behind or he's consistently facing third-and-long. This running back is the epicenter of this offense - not the quarterback. Without a dynamic running game and dynamic receivers, it's hard for a guy like Prescott to operate because he's not a pure passer like Tony Romo or Drew Brees. He's good enough - we saw that last season and the first half of this season - but he slumped badly in the second half of the season. Some of it was his fault, but a lot of the blame goes to the coaching staff because they didn't do enough to help him.

What's your opinion on Dez? What should Dallas do with him if he doesn't take a pay cut?

JJT:
It's hard to figure out just where Dez fits into the NFL hierarchy these days because Dak Prescott is a different kind of quarterback than Tony Romo. He's a different kind of passer and some of the routes Romo threw best - the back-shoulder fade - are not the routes that Prescott throws best. Bottom line: He's one of the highest-paid receivers, but his production whether we're talking catches (69), yards (869) or touchdowns (6) isn't near the top, for whatever reason, and that's a problem. Bryant's game has always been built on athleticism and as he's gotten older he's lost a tad of athleticism and that can be the difference between winning and losing a one-on-one battle. He doesn't have to take a pay cut, but based on his production the last three seasons, it's hard to see another team paying him $12.5 million. Any contract that reduces his salary will probably be set up with incentives that allow him to earn it back if he performs at a high level.

What are Jason Garrett's best/worst attributes as a head coach?

JJT:
The best thing Jason Garrett does is provide the Cowboys with a consistent message, which is hard to do in today's world. I understand that drives fans crazy from time to time, but when you hear his players consistently repeat his message and mantras then you know they're listening to what he says. He does a good job putting the team together and putting a plan together during the week. He struggles on game day for the same reason he's good during the week. He's a thinker, a guy who observes problems and then figures out ways to solve them. It happens so quickly on game day that he doesn't always adjust fast enough to help the Cowboys win a game. For him to become a next-level coach, he has to figure out how to adjust more quickly.

How big a priority are you placing on improving the O-Line this offseason? And by what means do you think Dallas should do so?

JJT:
You can't have All-Pro players at every position. They have three superior players and a fourth in La'el Collins who's getting better every week. Their biggest need, really, is for a third tackle who can play either side. That's because Tyron Smith has had back issues each of the last couple of seasons and Collins had them this year. They're both young men but back issues don't tend to get better; they get worse with time. The Cowboys drafted Chaz Green to be that guy, but who knows if he'll ever play another snap for the Cowboys after he played so poorly against Atlanta, allowing four sacks. If the Cowboys had a third tackle then they could rest Smith when he wasn't physically ready instead of playing him at 60 or 70 percent and that would make the team better overall.

you could argue they've got 5 first rounders on their starting O line, that should be more than sufficient in todays NFL

17. Los Angeles Chargers - T Orlando Brown, Oklahoma

18. Seattle Seahawks - S Ronnie Harrison, Alabama

19. Dallas Cowboys - DL Da'Ron Payne, Alabama
You watched him in the CFP Championship. Payne picked the right night to have his best game. Anchor, heavy hands, backfield vision. The Cowboys need a player like this on the interior.

WTF???

How does Dallas pick lower than 2 teams with the same record that beat them?
