Jones saying Scandrick not being shopped, doesn't know where that rumor came from.

Stevie saying several safeties they like still available.

I thought the name sounded familiar but could never recall where I knew it from.

Colorado HC Mike MacIntyre was an assistant DB coach here under Parcells from 2003-2006

We added three FOOTBALL players so far that will help the defense immediately.

Full of win.

These guys showed up in games. Lewis is small and not a burner but is a gamer. Ideal nickel.

Win. These might not be the picks some of you want but these are the picks we need.

Yeah I'm reasonably happy here. None of them may be all pros, but I think its likely all 3 are significant upgrades over the guys they are replacing.

If Lewis is cleared I really like what we did. 3 good players like you said, and all 3 at positions we sorely needed help.

None of them with injury or drug concerns either.

Guess we have to see the results of this DV thing, but this kids a pretty good football player. Seems to stick to receivers and really understands how to play the ball. Got credit for 20+ pass breakups as a Junior. Double digits again as SR.

Obviously another player our DB coach knows well from being on Michigan's staff.

The one handed pick on this highlight clip is pretty sweet.

He seems to do two things really well

Be in position and get one hand up at the last second to break up the pass!

But....
It seems to me with how often he was in position at the right time that he could have and should have come down with the ball more often then he did.

I like the pick. He looks to be a good addition

The way I see it, the CBs they took will be no worse than the bums they are replacing, and take up a whole lot less of the cap for the next four years. I'll call that a win no matter what.

Best overall Day 2

McShay:

Dallas Cowboys

Chidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado; Jourdan Lewis, CB, Michigan (pick Nos. 60 and 92)

Lewis is maybe the best value pick in this entire draft. I had him ranked No. 35 overall and the Cowboys snagged him midway through the third round. Both Lewis and Awuzie landed on my 2017 All-Tape Team, and they fill big needs in the secondary for the Cowboys, who let Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne leave in free agency. They're also two of the best cornerbacks in this class against the run. Awuzie shows very good awareness in zone coverage, which makes him a good fit for Rod Marinelli's Cover 2 scheme in Dallas. I understand why Lewis fell to the third round with off-field issues lingering, but he's one of the most instinctive corners I've studied in years. He has an uncanny ability to read receivers and anticipate their breaks.

Kiper-

Dallas addressed its biggest need on Day 2, taking cornerbacks Chidobe Awuzie (No. 60) and Jourdan Lewis (No. 92). Awuzie is the best tackling corner in this draft and Lewis is one of the best true cover guys. Lewis dropped because of a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence, for which he pleaded not guilty last month.

Pete Prisco's Grade: A

"Getting a player this talented in this spot is a big time steal for the Cowboys."

Instant analysis

It's no secret that the Cowboys' priority in this year's draft is fixing their unreliable defense. So, it's not surprising to see them take Awuzie late in the second round. It is, however, surprising that Awuzie wasn't already off the board at this point.

In his last two seasons at Colorado, Awuzie notched three interceptions, 18 passes defended, and 18 tackles for a loss. He's also a capable blitzer, evidenced by his eight sacks in the past two years. Awuzie can help a team as a gunner. Teams don't draft players for special teams only, but it's a nice bonus.

As my colleague Jared Dubin noted, Awuzie was also fifth among cornerbacks in SPARQ. That's becoming a trend in Dallas, as Byron Jones and Kavon Frazier also placed highly in SPARQ.

Dallas Cowboys
Draft picks: Taco Charlton (No. 28 overall), Chidobe Awuzie (No. 60 overall), Jourdan Lewis (No. 92 overall)
Day 1 grade: A-
Day 2 grade: A
Overall grade: A-
The skinny: The Cowboys found another corner/safety combo in Chidobe Awuzie, and got great value in doing so. They again helped the secondary with a tough-minded slot starter in Jourdan Lewis; this makes sense given the team's interest in trading Orlando Scandrick. Dallas had a choice between Charlton and T.J. Watt. Either could have fit their bill, and the need was certainly there. I had Watt with a higher grade, but Charlton's length and agility are impressive. He'll be a very good player for Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett.

DMN:

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys addressed their secondary needs Friday on Day 2 of the draft by selecting a pair of cornerbacks: second-round pick Chidobe Awuize of Colorado and Jourdan Lewis of Michigan.
Now the Cowboys could turn their attention to offensive. They could use depth at offensive tackle with starting right tackle Doug Free retiring. They could use depth at tight end with the aging Jason Witten nearing the end of his career. They could also use another receiver and possibly a backup quarterback to develop.

And don't rule out defense despite the Cowboys using their top three picks on that side of the ball so far. They still need help along the defensive line.

The Cowboys have four more picks remaining on the final day of the draft. They have one each in the fourth and sixth rounds and two in the seventh round. They don't have a fifth-round pick this year, although executive vice president Stephen Jones said he wouldn't rule out possibly trading back into the fifth if the opportunity presented itself Saturday.

Here are 10 players who are still available and possible targets for the Cowboys in either the fourth, sixth or seventh rounds on Saturday:

Player; College; Pos.; Ht.; Wt.

Jake Butt; Michigan; TE; 6-5; 246

Was best TE in Big Ten last two seasons but recovering from torn right ACL

Treston Decoud; Oregon State; CB; 6-2; 206

One of Cowboys' Top-30 pre-draft visitors, doesn't have great speed (4.62 in 40)

Jermaine Eluemunor; Texas A&M; OT; 6-4; 332

Cowboys need a starting RT and he has can play that position or at OG

Treyvon Hester; Toledo; DT; 6-2; 300

He can play 3-technique and could be a solid rotational player in Cowboys' four-man front

Will Holden; Vanderbilt; OT; 6-8; 311

One of top OTs still left, he has quick feet but short arms for a big guy

Fred Ross; Mississippi State; WR; 6-1; 213

Tyler native is one of QB Dak Prescott's best friends and his top target in college

Jeremy Sprinkle; Arkansas; TE; 6-5; 252

Consistent blocker still needs to develop as a route runner, but has size, speed to excel

Tedric Thompson; Colorado; S; 6-0; 204

Another of Cowboys' Top-30 pre-draft visitors, Thompson finished last season with 16 pass breakups and seven interceptions

Alek Torgersen; Pennsylvania; QB; 6-3; 230

Completed 66.9 percent of his passes as senior for 2,231 yards, 17 TDs with only four INTs

Xavier Woods; Louisiana Tech; S; 5-11; 197

One of Cowboys' Top-30 pre-draft visitors, Woods had 89 tackles last year with six pass breakups, five interceptions

Excellent, fucking draft. We weren't just drafting for need either. All 3 were great value picks too.

Owuzie just made too much sense with his ability to blitz.
