That's what they said tonight. They thought they had to hurry to sign him and they did it all through the agent. Only person Osweiler even talked to with Houston was Hopkins, who shared the same agent.

They were so burned by not having a qb last year they panicked and made a massive mistake.

What makes all this even more funny is the guy they got rid of because he was awful there went to a worse team and far outplayed Osweiler.

Might be some evidence that part of the issue is the coaching.

I don't think he's worse than Hoyer by a long shot. He's just okay, and frankly seems like kind of a bitch mentally.

Part of it is I think they said he's faced Minny, Denver, and Pittsburgh on the road, which is tough for anyone not named Dakota.

That's pretty much the story

I don't know if you saw Hard Knocks with the Rams but on one of the episodes they asked him what direction the sun rises and sets and he had no idea .

I just looked up his wonderlick score and he scored a 36 whereas Wentz scored a 40. So he is definitely on the high side of the scale and has scored higher than some of the great QB's of the past.

For comparisons sake Romo scored a 37

Eli Manning 39
Aron Rogers 35
Steve young 33
Tom Brady 33
Zeke 32
Troy Aikman 29
Drew Brees 28
Peyton Manning 28
Ryan Leaf 27
Carson Palmer 26
Geno Smith 24
RGIII 24
Conner Cook 25
Dak Prescott 25
Ben Rothlisberger 25
Bret Favre 22

On the other side of the scale you have Vince Young at 6
Mo Clairborn 4
Frank Gore 6
Deforest Buckner 9
Jeff George 10
Derelle Revis 10
Keyshawn Johnson 11
Ray Lewis 13
Julio Jones 15
Terry Bradshaw 15
Jim Kelly 15
Dez Bryant 16
Le'veon Bell 17

So as you can see a higher score doesn't necessarily mean success in the NFL at all positions. But it tends to be more important for a QB than any other position. But not every successful QB had a high score. See Bradshaw, Rothlisberger and Favre for examples.

Dak's score did surprise me at only 25! Considering that Mooch said that Dak had the 2nd best football smarts right behind Wentz (40) when he met with them all for the show Game Changers.

I thought that agents give them the questions and answers pretty much these days. Either way, he survived at Berkeley so I'm sure he has some reasoning skills but they say he's so dumb that he can't even learn the playbook. RGIII apparently had the exact same issue but he could run around and improvise for one season.

Just looking at Claiborne's score makes me giggle.

So we can deduce from these scores that the wonderlick isn't really a great tool for assessing QB potential.

If I was a scout I'd probably be more interested in how they came across in a normal conversation. So long as they show passion and dedication for the game, and don't give you the impression they're a complete simpleton, then they should be fine with good coaching.

Berkeley supposedly has high academic standards, but on Hard Knocks Goff didnt know the sun rose in the east.

The Wonderlic does let you know who the morons are though. Scoring below 20 indicates a moron. Scoring below 10 indicates a ****** that probably cannot tie his own shoes or spell his own name.

Which wouldn't be the first time it's happened
Also not the first time we've recognized that here.... In fact we had a great little thread about it last offseason. We know we've been mostly lied to about his back, but it is unclear who the original liar was - Jerry lying to us, or Tony lying to Jerry. But of course either way, the lies continue.

Nice to see this author's "Medical Source" confirming what I was saying last year, that the "cyst" was directly related to the already malignant existence of the bulging disk which later had to be repaired. Then there was this:
This is just an educated guess, but if Tony stays on the bench beyond Thanksgiving, I would not be surprised if he undergoes surgery and announces his retirement from football shortly thereafter. For me, and countless other Cowboys fans, that would be a sad day.
No, it would be a HAPPY day. Because it means someone exercised a brain cell and decided Tony's future health and mobility were more important than 'one more shot at it.'

Now Goff is taking 1st team reps in preparation of replacing Keenum at some point. Getting some positive feedback from his o coordinator.

Speaking of nothing anyone is talking about here. Saw Torrey Smith could be traded. Played for Cam Cameron. Runs a 4.36/40 and has a 17+ career ypc. Catches with and without hands.

The Vegas odds of Romo starting a game for the Cowboys this season went from 2/1 two weeks ago to now 65/1.

Wow that is really strange, Vegas is not in the habit of offering huge long shots unless they are severely undercutting the price, meaning if the true odds of event "A" occurring are 200:1, then vegas will only offer it at 150:1 and probably limit the max bet.

They arrive at this figure by taking the number of games left, the chance Dak wins the job, other factors and perhaps some inside info not presently revealed to Joe Fan. If somehow Vegas knows Romo won't start again, its right in line with Vegas' habit of severely short changing the bettor, as 65:1 odds are awfully enticing but no risk to Vegas if they already know Romo is done.

On the other hand, the line change in a typical game indicates vegas is trying to get money equally distributed on both sides, not necessarily that an events outcome is more or less likely to occur.

I'm not sure if odds bets like whether Romo will start work like typical games, but if they do, then it means Vegas already has a lot of action betting Romo won't start again, Vegas knows he wont start again, so the book is offering 65:1 to get people to bet that he will start, which would make sense given the way the line is moving.

If I've done the math right, it sounds like we'll soon get an announcement about Romo being out for the year.
