So it's happening. He definitely won't be there when we pick. It only takes one ahead of us to take Gordon. Might get ready for our third choice, whoever that is. Or even a later-round guy.

Or a panic trade for Peterson.

The talk here locally is Gurley is probably going in the top 10. I think its likely Gordon gets scooped up by San Diego, Arizona or Baltimore perhaps.

Dont think we are trading for Peterson

He texted me that about 30 minutes ago. First I've heard of it but I've actually been working today so I haven't been paying attention.

Yea Drew Boylhart tweeted it earlier... There goes any top 15 talk. Maybe even top 20. If we're lucky he'll slide right to us.

I bet Jerry planted the weed in his car. He saw his fake foot surgery story going down the tubes, so he went to Plan B

DMN's Jon Machota picks for us. I'd take Shaw over Carter but would be ok with Carter too. Both are big CB's that if they don't work there, could easily move to FS I think. I think Marinelli would love that kid from Norfolk.

Overall decent mock draft I think.

Forget just predicting who the Cowboys could draft in the first round this Thursday. What about their other six picks? As you can imagine, predicting all seven rounds is much more difficult.

But based on where players are projected to be selected and the positions the Cowboys need to address most, I’ve put together a full seven-round mock for every Dallas pick.

Thoughts?

Round 1 (27 overall): Eric Kendricks, LB, UCLA. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, the top players at their biggest areas of need (RB, DE, CB) will likely be gone by 27. If they cannot work a trade back, the best case scenario could be taking one of the top 4-3 outside linebackers, either Kendricks or Washington’s Shaq Thompson.

Round 2 (60 overall): Jay Ajayi, RB, Boise State. Ajayi should be gone by 60, but questions surrounding the health of his knee could cause the former Frisco Liberty standout to fall. If he’s off the board, Alabama’s T.J. Yeldon is another possibility. Either way, the Cowboys will be looking to land a running back early in this year’s draft.

Round 3 (91 overall): Alex Carter, CB, Stanford. This might be a little late for Carter. He certainly has the ideal traits and size (6-0, 196 pounds) the NFL is looking for in cover corners. But if he falls to 91, the Cowboys, who are looking for a starting-caliber corner, could jump on the opportunity. Another possibility: Josh Shaw, CB, USC. Shaw was one of the Cowboys’ 30 official pre-draft visits.

Round 4 (127 overall): Ty Montgomery, WR, Stanford. With Dwayne Harris now in New York, the Cowboys need a wide receiver that can also return kicks and punts. Montgomery, who visited the Cowboys, would be an ideal replacement. He’s considered to be one of the top returners in this class.

Round 5 (163 overall): Frank Clark, DE, Michigan. This would be a tough call for Dallas. Clark, who was kicked off the Michigan football team last season, was arrested for domestic violence in November. But he pled guilty to disorderly conduct, leading to the domestic violence and assault charges being dropped earlier this month. If not for the off-the-field concerns, the athletic edge rusher wouldn’t be available in the fifth round. It’s also possible that Clark could be available in the sixth round if the Cowboys are willing to take a chance and trade into that round.

Round 7 (236 overall): Doniel Gambrell, OT, Notre Dame College. The Cowboys lost Jermey Parnell in free agency, so taking a flyer on a young 6-5, 306-pound right tackle makes sense. And yes, that’s not the University of Notre Dame. That’s Notre Dame College, a Division II school in South Euclid, Ohio.

Round 7 (243 overall): Lynden Trail, DE, Norfolk State. The Cowboys need help rushing the passer. While defensive end will likely be addressed earlier than the seventh round, grabbing a project player here isn’t a terrible idea. Other possibilities: Shaquille Riddick, DE, West Virginia; Ray Drew, DE, Georgia; Cedric Reed, DE, Texas.

He was cited I believe. I don't think he was arrested. Regardless, I take him in a heartbeat at 27 if he falls. There is talk that he could fall to the 4th which I highly doubt he even leaves the first let alone falls to the 4th.

"Shane Ray’s pot citation changes his NFL Draft stock dramatically. There is no way he is taken in the 1st round. He could drop to the 3rd or 4th round." - NFL on ESPN Front Office Insider Mark Dominik

Sounds crazy.

I don't buy it either. Shane Ray is one hell of a football player. As soon as he gets in range we need to go get him.

@evansilva: I'm buying the Amari Cooper - #Jaguars talk. They wanted Randall Cobb in FA and have been very committed to upgrading around Bortles.

@AdamSchefter: Shane Ray now automatically enrolled in behavioral portion of Phase 1 of NFL's substance abuse program, sources tell ESPN's Mark Dominik.
