Frankly, I don't believe any of these reports, good or bad. I've seen too many cases over the years where reporters don't know what the hell they're looking at, or watch a play or two and act like it meant something. Anyone who's been to training camp probably knows what I'm talking about.

I would believe someone like a Nate Newton who played and actually pays close attention. Other than that I'll just believe my own eyes once preseason starts.

Not contradicting what you said, Omega, as you said you saw that yourself.

Nah, I get it. Everything is saccharine in these reports. All coaching moves are justified and all Cowboy thinking is without flaw. Wilson may still be just a camp body making some plays here and there is no reason to invest anything in his future but I thought he was a basic zero and he seems to be better than zero.

Agreed. A few years ago to prove a point at the Zone, I posted an article where one reporter claimed Player A had a great day and another article that said Player A struggled all day. These reporters in camp are not the definitive source on a player's performance in camp. Coaches tends to be overly political in public during this time of year. Behind closed doors they might be losing their shit on these guys but they usually don't come out and tell the reporters "I'm about to cut Player A's ass"

@DMN_George: According to @DavidMooreDMN, the Cowboys have signed OT Cody Clay and waived LB Will Smith after working out several players Friday morning.

@DMN_George: DT Terrell McClain (bone bruise, strained hamstring) expected to miss at least a week for Cowboys.

Disappointing. He was supposedly looking good.

Another guy that never seems to stay healthy.

Totally forgot Josh Brent was a thing. Odd how he fell off the radar completely once he retired.

Off topic but whatever.

I feel like were a talented team but one or two injuries could really be problematic at a few spots.

Well problematic is an improvement over devastating. I have to say, I like how our depth is developing. Our CB which was one of our weakest is now a strength. Claiborne is supposedly been having one of the better camps. Our safeties still suck

Yeah my comment basically fit all 32 teams.

Overall you got to love our depth. Not a steak on every plate but were pretty solid across the board.

If Carr would play the way he did at the end of last yr and in the playoffs, we'd be fine with him.

Scandrick is reportedly struggling right now a bit but we know he should be pretty solid. I have no expectations for Claiborne at all and frankly will be surprised if he makes the team. Jones I do think is the real deal regardless of where they play him. Patmon I like a lot and think he could be a pretty good nickel/dime DB for us. Corey White has impressed so far from multiple accounts.

Ideally IMO it would be great if Carr and Scandrick could play decent enough to start at CB, Patmon and White man the 3rd and 4th CB spots, they move Byron Jones permanently to FS and then let Church and Wilcox battle for SS job.

From the reports I've read... Claiborne has been very impressive in camp. I've also read that so far Patmon and White have had the best camps out of the CBs.

Wouldn't in practice against the back up QB not be a perfect time to teach lance or Gus the blocking scheme?

A lot of tweets of lance breaking decent runs.

I think Dunbar will also be the KR. Which he should have been in the first -place over Dwayne Harris. The guy is dangerous in space.

I haven't read anywhere where they're trying him at KR.

Pretty sure they want one of the young receivers to do that. Whitehead for example.

Whitehead at PR. Trying to dig it up where I read Dunbar was seeing time at KR.

I think Whitehead is the guy that may win that KR job. Interested in seeing how he plays in the preseason. One guy leaves, another guy emerges.

At least with Murray he showed his talents in games... he just couldn't stay healthy. Claiborne has to fight injury and has to actually show ability on the field.

Maybe it just takes him 3 years to get his head in the game. A 6 on the Wonderlic could have been a sign there. But it would be great for the team if he played up to his draft spot.

Anyone given any thought to what if we converted Sean Lee to SS, much like what we did with Woodson?

Also, I'll believe this great camp from Claiborne when I see it. Dude couldn't play when healthy, and he had a pretty terrible knee injury.

Yea I need to see it on the field before I believe it with Claiborne.

Our expectations are so low of him at this point tho that I don't think it's gonna take much for him to impress.
