the line is misleading. a lot of fans don't know the home team is spotted 3 points. in reality the Lions are probably slightly favored.

This isn't true. Everyone seems to "know" the home team is given 3 points. I don't even think that's true. I'm not saying it's not true, I'm just saying there definitely isn't proof that it is.

You want to tell me vegas grants Denver/KC/GB/sea the same home advantage as Jax/Mia/TB?

That just seems stupid.

why not? we're only talking about three points. you can be a home team and still be a huge underdog.

The actually number isn't relevant. It's the fact that all teams are deemed to have an equal advantage at home. That's silly.

I have no basis for this opinion, but I personally think it's a myth.

What kind of advantage do the cowboys have at home? 3 points? Yeah right

for starters, yes. and then the oddsmakers will add to or subtract from that number based on the home team's abilities and their opponent's abilities. I'm not a gambler, but that's the way I've always understood it. And it goes without saying that Vegas and the neighborhood bookies set their lines differently.

Not going to argue that the common understanding is that home teams are granted 3 points. I just don't believe it. I think some teams are given more bc their advantage is greater and some are granted less.

For the most part, at least nowadays, everyone is working with similar lines.

Did Denver end up covering the spread against Jax? It was a record setting spread.

I don't feel like looking it up.

No prediction from me.

It'll be very interesting to see how the Dallas OL handles the Detroit DL. This is a pretty important match up. I don't expect much in the way of a Dallas running game (no reason to expect rushing productivity), this will be more about pass protection I think.

Frederick isn't going to be (too) intimidated by Suh. Plus, I'm pretty sure if Suh tried anything dirty Brian Waters would step in. He doesn't seem like the type of player to let his teammates get punked. Detroit's LB's aren't bad but aren't special either. Their Secondary is suspect.
