I'm trying to remember how in-season trades work for the salary cap. He already counts $3.5M this year. Not quite sure what accelerates now and what hits next year's cap.
As far as MJD, we just inherit his base which is about $5M. We could also sign him to an extension as part of the trade and lower that cap number.
You talk about a splash. MJD Cowboy jerseys would sell like crazy.
I dont know either, seems like I recall seeing they have a little over 2 Mill under the cap this year and are 20+ mill over next year, so it doesn't sound like they have much room to maneuver plus if they did it he damn well better be healthy and still a player, we have enough dead weight they're tied to now and going forward
just imagine if they had made three different decisions on the following:
1. Didn't trade for Roy Williams and drafted the lineman from that movie that plays for Baltimore
2. Didn't extend Ratliff WHEN THEY DIDNT HAVE TO WITH 2 FUCKING YEARS LEFT ON HIS CONTRACT
3. Refused to sign Spencer or franchise him and grabbed a couple of low priced veterans like Bennett who signed with Seattle
They'd probably have 5-10 mill in cap just by avoiding those fuck ups and have nothing on the books for Rat/Spence going forward
