I think he wrote a couple of the scouting reports recently on ESPNdallas, com. It may be posted under Watkins' or someone's name but if you look, he's the one who wrote them.

Yeah he did. I posted a few of them here somewhere.

Advanced scouting: Giovani Bernard

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

To help preview who might be on the Dallas Cowboys’ board for the NFL draft, ESPNDallas.com has identified five players at five key positions that we’d like to learn more about. Along those lines, we’ve asked former Cowboys assistant coach Glenn “Stretch” Smith – the official scout of Galloway & Company – to study tape of each player and give his thoughts.

No. 3 running back: Giovani Bernard

Height/weight: 5-foot-10, 205 pounds

School: North Carolina

Why he’s on the radar: The Cowboys have discussed the need to find durable backs to improve at this position. But Bernard has health issues, having torn his ACL in 2010, as well as missing two games last season. When healthy, Bernard has been a productive back, scoring 25 career touchdowns. He's played in two different types of offenses -- pro style and spread -- and could be a physical back to provide help for DeMarco Murray. Lance Dunbar will return as an off-tackle runner, but getting a punisher such as Bernard might prove helpful.

Projection: Second or third round

Stretch Truths: Despite his lack of size, I like this kid. ... Can also return kicks. ... Runs with toughness between the tackles, and he has some short area quickness to make good inside cuts. ... Good vision on draws and screens, and also in the open field as a return guy. ... Question is his health after he tore his ACL in his right knee in 2010. ... Not a physical blocker at the point of attack. ... He likes to cut too much, but this kid has some upside.

Thank God that Kiper is rarely correct. The guy had us pegged to take either Watt or Amukamara right up to the last end.

Has Williams been in for a visit?

Advanced scouting: Kawann Short

April, 3, 2013

By Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

Kawann Short was a two-time captain at Purdue and impressed at the Senior Bowl.

No. 3 defensive lineman: Kawann Short

Position: Defensive tackle

Height/weight: 6-foot-3, 299 pounds

School: Purdue

Why he’s on the radar: He is productive, finishing his collegiate career with 18 sacks and 48 tackles for loss. He performed well in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, as well as at the Senior Bowl. He is a crafty player, according to some reports, but he moves better than people think. One possible tiebreaker in the Cowboys' evaluation process that could favor Short: he was a two-time captain for the Boilermakers. Jason Garrett always talks about having the “right kind of guys.”

Projection: Late first round, early second

Stretch Truths: It’s frustrating to watch this kid on film, as he’s a feast-or-famine type player. … Will flash some quickness and hands to punch and shed. … Lacks lower strength to bull rush or get any pocket push at the point of attack. … Does not show the speed when pursuing the chase. … Soft body; skinny lower. … Would be tough to pick him early. … In my eyes, he could go early, but at times looks like a free agent on film.

I can't make heads or tails of Short. He was productive, but the scouts almost all seem to dislike him.

Glorydays "Brays going undrafted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Advanced scouting: Tyler Bray

April, 4, 2013
By Tim MacMahon | ESPNDallas.com

To help preview who might be on the Dallas Cowboys’ board for the NFL draft, ESPNDallas.com has identified five players at five key positions that we’d like to learn more about. Along those lines, we’ve asked former Cowboys assistant coach Glenn “Stretch” Smith – the official scout of Galloway & Company – to study tape of each player and give his thoughts.

No. 3 quarterback: Tyler Bray
Height/weight: 6-foot-6 1/8, 232 pounds
School: Tennessee

Why he’s on the radar: Bray, ranked as the No. 8 quarterback in this draft class by Scouts Inc., would be a project who could develop behind Tony Romo and Kyle Orton. He has prototypical size for an NFL pocket passer and possesses outstanding arm strength. He’s raw, however, and didn’t win enough at Tennessee (5-7 in his only full season as a starter). No team will have a better scouting report on Bray than the Cowboys, who hired Derek Dooley as receivers coach this offseason after he was fired as Tennessee’s head coach. Would Dooley recommend a quarterback he couldn’t win with in the SEC?

Projection: Third or fourth round

Stretch Truths: Has a big-time arm that can spin it from several different arm angles. … Adequate throwing on the move, but his footwork is poor at times in the pocket. … I question his football smarts and ability to read coverages. Throws too many balls into coverage. … If you take this kid, he needs to learn and develop as a backup.

We took Smith. Was he correct?
Nope, but your comments were thank god Kiper is wrong since he had us taken Watt.
There is not a bigger Tyron Smith fan on this board than me but I think we would have been okay if we ended up with Watt.

I can see how you arrived at that context. My point was that Kiper is hardly ever correct, and with this latest, prediction---which he will change a number of times between now and the draft, I see no reason to get bent out of shape over it.

On that you are right.

Kiper (and all of these other guys) are going for buzz not accuracy right now. Buzz gets people talking, keeps them relevent, and keeps them paid.
