The Cowboys 2013 draft picks are listed below. As you think about it now, who you are especially interested to see play?

Travis Frederick, Center, Wisconsin
Gavin Escobar, Tight end, San Diego State
Terrance Williams, Wide receiver, Baylor
J. J. Wilcox, Safety, Georgia Southern
B. W. Webb, Cornerback, William & Mary
Joseph Randle, Running back, Oklahoma State
DeVonte Holloman, Linebacker, South Carolina

For me, it would be Randle and Escobar ... in that order.

Joseph Randle - because after Frederick, he may have one of the most important rookie roles this year. I think he's going to see a lot of snaps ... and that he'll be carrying the ball in some pivotal situations.

Gavin Escobar - I don't like that the Cowboys picked him, but I'm curious to see how good he is.

Frederick fo sho. 10 year centerpiece along our line.

Interested in BW Webb after the glowing reports during early OTAs.

And Randle because I kind of expect him to be our workhorse back in two years, not Murray.

You left out JJ Wilcox.

1. Frederick - to see if he's as strong as he looked in college, and if his slow footspeed hurts him
2. Williams - to see how quickly he adjusts to a pro system and what he shows overall
3. Wilcox- does he look as good as reports say. If so, can he beat out the legendary Matt Johnson

I feel like I already know what Randle is, and I expect Webb to be good based on all the great reports.

Webb got a lot of glowing reports these OTA's... so it wouldn't suprise me if he was a complete non-factor this year.

:lol

Usually how it works.

1. Fredrick - It's about time we had an anchor in the middle of the line. Never liked Gurode that much.
2. Escobar - I think he'll be a Hernandez type player for us even this year.
3. Williams - I think he'll be really good and replace Austin in a year or two.
4. Wilcox - I don't care what Midswat says. I've heard a lot of good things about him.

We had Randle ranked ahead of a lot of other backs I felt were better players so I'm curious to see how he does. He didn't seem all that special at Oklahoma State to me.

We also rated Terrence Williams ahead of Keenan Allen and drafted him 2 spots ahead of Allen. Allen was the better prospect IMO and is supposedly killing it in Chargers training camp so I'd like to see if Williams ends up the better player.

I'd like to see Escobar excel and I'd like to trade witten for a draft pick

I watched a bit of dal @ giants from last year and I got pretty antsy to see what Frederick can do for the offense bc our run blocking is just non existent

I agree that he alone isn't winning us a championship but you don't think Witten hasn't won games for us at all? A lot of clutch receptions.

Sure he has, but his points value hasn't lived up to his perceived value. He's not much of a bloker anymore and the offense is neutered by his presence.

If he's worth a 1st I take it and use it on a different position bc it's just not happening with him

He's a future HOF too and the most we would get is like a 5th at this point.

He needs to be a career-long Cowboy.

Yeah, the Chiefs got a second for Gonzalez when he was 33. I don't see why we wouldn't get at least that.

Jerry is never going to trade a potential HOFer that he drafted. But I agree that we need to do more of trading old players for draft picks. That's something we almost never do.

I think Jerry is so happy when he drafts a good player that he doesn't want to get rid of one of his successes.

When was the last time Dallas ever came out ahead in a trade? They cling to people until they have no value

I haven't seen Randle play yet, so that's part of why I'm looking forward to seeing him in the preseason. Based on what I've read, I gotta believe that one reason the Cowboys had Randle ranked so high is Randle's ability to block/pick up the blitz. That's a very important ability ... a prerequisite, really.

Somehow I missed it earlier, but yesterday I learned that Terrance Williams is 23 years old. I find that a bit disappointing. It makes me suspicious that his experience and physical maturation played a role in his success at the college-level and that he's already closer to his ceiling than are most rookies. I'm still pulling for him, of course, but I'm less enthusiastic about him.

Yeah, the B. W. Webb early reviews have got my attention too. I'd like to see what he can do.

I was all for us drafting Randle even long before April, but I don't think Randle is going to be very impressive looking. He's not a flashy player like, say, Felix was. I don't think he has a huge upside. He's just a good, solid, all-around player who has a little attitude to him. I keep thinking he might be like Kevin Faulk, just a dependable chain mover and especially pass catcher on third down. But Faulk was a very important part of those good Patriots teams.
