Nick Eatman pretty bold statement here:

Nick: The Cowboys will win the game. I know we’re supposed to go with the gut here and somewhat hint at how we’re leaning. No reason to beat around the bush this time … I’ve got the Cowboys winning this game. Are they the better team? Who knows, but they were once this year. Are they banged up? Yeah, but who isn’t. I just think it’s a matter of what goes around comes around and while that might suggest the Giants winning this game and splitting the season series, I see it the other way. I don’t see the Giants being good enough to run away with this division and that’s what would happen if they win. I see the Cowboys being able to make big plays in the passing game and I think we’re going to be impressed with Phillip Tanner’s running ability in this game. I can see a 100-yard game from him. Dan Connor will be also be better than you think and my gut tells me we’ll have a Mike Jenkins sighting. The Cowboys find a way to win this game Sunday against the Giants, giving Eli Manning his first loss at Cowboys Stadium.

I normally want to defer to teh 2nd half, but I'm hoping we receive the opening kick and can do something with it.

Lost by a total off 11 points in the 3 losses to Manning at Jerry World.

I'll stick with the averages and say they play a give and take affair again this time around.

Another loss by 3-4 points with a woulda , coulda , shoulda ending.

Gameday.

I feel less doom and gloom about this game for some reason. Maybe it's indifference.

But man, I hope we fucking win. Suck my penis, NYG.

Gameday's here. 0-3 vs NYG in the new shithole home, wonder if we finally breakthrough today?

Normally when everyone expects us to get creamed, we somehow play well. Hope we win, but am definitely not expecting it. Just like last week, I honestly wouldnt be all that surprised with any result from today.

W2W4: Cowboys vs. Giants

October, 28, 2012

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The rematch. This time, the Cowboys and Giants meet not at the end of the season but in October at Cowboys Stadium. In the first meeting, the Cowboys earned a 24-17 victory at MetLife Stadium. It was sort of revenge for the Giants knocking the Cowboys out of a playoff berth last season.

Well here's another chance for the Cowboys to knock down the Giants.

A preview:

The series: The Cowboys lead the all-time season series, 57-42-2, but have lost five of the last seven games to the Giants. At Cowboys Stadium, the Giants are 3-0. In the last ten games between the teams, seven were decided by fewer than seven points. Should the Cowboys beat the Giants, it would mark the first time they've swept them since 2007.

What's up with the injuries?: Running back DeMarco Murray (foot) and center Phil Costa (ankle) are out. But Felix Jones (knee) and Ryan Cook (hamstring) nursing their own health issues should start in their places. DeMarcus Ware missed all three days of practice with the flu. He's expected to play Sunday. Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks has battled injuries all season and he should play. Safety Kenny Phillips and defensive tackle Rocky Bernard are out with injuries.

The return of Marty B: Former Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett makes his return to Cowboys Stadium, a place where he never scored a touchdown. Bennett has 25 catches for 305 yards and three touchdowns this season. It will be interesting to see how Bennett performs here. By the way, former Cowboys defensive tackle Chris Canty also is returning, not for the first time, but he's playing in his second game of the season after returning from injuries.

Who's better in the fourth quarter: Eli Manning and Tony Romo might be on alert in the late stages of this game, isn't it always when these teams meet. Of Romo's 157 touchdown passes, 46 have come in the fourth quarter. Among active quarterbacks, Romo has the highest quarterback rating at 101.1. That's higher than Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Romo also has completed 63.9 percent of his throws. Eli Manning is just as good in the fourth. He's led his team to 22 regular season game-winning drives, including three against Dallas.

Matchup to watch: The Giants wide receivers take on the Cowboys cornerbacks. In the first meeting, Mike Jenkins didn't play, as he was still recovering from shoulder surgery. Now, Jenkins is back and should get significant snaps against the Giants deep receiving threats. Of course, Jenkins can't do it alone, he's got Morris Claiborne (three pass breakups and one interception) and Brandon Carr (28 passes thrown against and zero interceptions) helping him. Giants receiver Victor Cruz is going to be hard to stop from the slot and Orlando Scandrick (three pass breakups) will be assign that duty. Cruz struggled in the first meeting with a couple of drops and finished with six catches for 58 yards. Since then, he has three 100-yard games and seven touchdowns. Nicks is another dangerous target who is somebody who can catches passes deep and underneath. His health prevents him, at least right now, from stretching defenses deep, but he's still very dangerous.

Cowboys tackles improving but have challenge

October, 27, 2012

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys offensive tackles, Doug Free (right) and Tyron Smith (left), have improved their play the last couple of weeks.

Quarterback Tony Romo wasn't sacked last week at Carolina and the Panthers weren't credited with any quarterback hits.

Everything could change Sunday afternoon at Cowboys Stadium when the New York Giants come calling. In the first meeting, the season-opener, Romo was sacked twice and knocked down twice.

The Giants edge rushers, Justin Tuck, Jason Pierre-Paul and Osi Umenyiora are difficult to defend for any offensive line.

Pierre-Paul leads the Giants with 4.5 sacks and five quarterback hits. Tuck recorded his first sack of the season last week against Washington, but he's got three quarterback hits. Umenyiora has three sacks on the season, second on the team, and four quarterback hits.

"We went into Carolina and we were challenged," Cowboys offensive line coach Bill Callahan said. "We had too many penalties the week prior to that. We felt the week coming out of the Baltimore game, we did better with the presnap penalties and then we went the last game and we did well. From their prospective they’ve shown some improvement, in terms of shutting down the edges. We've been challenged by some really good rushers and the challenge is greater this week when you look at these guys from New York, this is what they do. This is the heart of their defense we’re challenged again."

Penalties are the biggest issue for the tackles.

Free leads the team with nine penalties for 60 yards and had a four-penalty game in Week 4, which included three false starts. Free leads the NFL with six false starts overall and he's tied for sixth with three holding calls.

Smith has eight penalties for 46 yards charged on his 2012 resume. In that Week 1 game against the Giants, Smith was flagged four times, three on false starts.

Smith is second in the NFL with five false start penalties.

When the Cowboys run, they're averaging 5.84 yards per carry going off left tackle, seventh in the league. But when run plays go toward Free's side, the team averages just 2.83 yards per carry, 28th in the league.

"We're getting into a rhythm and we’re getting into a routine of what we want to establish," Callahan said. "It's really not that much different from what (former offensive) coach (Hudson) Houck did. The footwork is improving, their angles are improving and whatever line coach there is will tell you, you can always improve your hands, your punch, your stride all those fundamental type things to shut down a great edge rusher."

Some in Cowboys organization told me Sean Lee the No. 1 player on the team ahead of Tony Romo and DeMarcus Ware. #cowboys

Rob Ryan has to bring the rush today. DeMarcus Ware has two sacks in victory over NYG, and Manning sacked only 3 times total since. #cowboys

NFL's best team so far _ NYG playing road game. Have allowed 9.7 pts game on road; no other team average less than 14 pts. #giants #cowboys

Did Mike Jenkins play week 1?

I honestly don't remember...

Ratliff, Wilber and Jenkins were all inactive in week 1.

David bass is banged up and he has to deal with Ratliff.

It's a big storyline no one has talked about because the ny media is to busy talking about Jerry's July comments and how Claiborne is a rookie.

Well, to be fair, we never seem to be able to exploit weaknesses on opponents Olines.

But yeah, Jenkins not playing week one and now being available is huge. I never even took that into consideration.

Secondary has to really step up today if the Cowboys have any chance. Carr needs to earn his money. Bryant has to be the playmaker he is.
