I don't know why we wouldn't blitz half the time or more on passing downs. It's clear our safeties are our weak spot on defense. You make any QB get rid of the ball earlier, and you're talking about him throwing it to guys covered by Carr, Claiborne and Lee, instead of getting back to Sensabaugh, McCray et al. Sounds like a winner to me.

you have to get there if you blitz. In that game in 2010 we never got there after the first couple drives and they just made us look bad and we had to play from behind.

I am sure we will blitz or bring odd alignments like we did sunday against tampa. You cant keep doing it though.

this is assuming by blitz we are agreeing that is bringing like 5 or more guys..

Yeah, sending 4 isn't a blitz to me. I'm just saying even if we don't get there all the time, if we make Cutler feel the pressure and get rid of it earlier, it helps us with our secondary and ILBs.

Not that we should do it every passing down, but I'd like to be around 50%.

like us they are really bad on first down and seemingly keep ending up in bad 2nd and 3rd down situations.

it that continues I imagine neither teams really come after each other because both offenses shoot themselves in the foot so much.

the bears dont blitz by there design but we know ryan will at some point.

hopefully we have a lead in the third quarter and the bears have to throw. The crowd will be great on monday night as it always is for primetime games so the bears having a bad line, erratic qb having to deal with the noise and our front could be big for us.

I dont know why but I feel like we are going to find a way just like we did last week on monday night....an ugly type game

Good defense by Ball and poor Scandrick doesn't have a clue.

scandrick is man to man there.

I would love to know what brooking was supposed to be doing....wade got all pissed off when the media asked him about this play during the week that year....

the reason they beat us last time was because wade repeatedly blitzed them and they took advantage of the inside linebackers and mike jenkins who was about as bad as it gets in 2010.

We need to keep them from hitting the big play to either of those big wide recievers. Making them go the length of the field without committing penalties and turning the ball over.

Without forte i dont think they can beat us running the ball consistently.

Wade did not have the current group.

Also, Cutler can pick apart this D if they give him the Russell Wilson treatment. Chicago's oline is in shambles so they really should take advantage and put Cutler on his ass regularly.

Yeah, I just don't know what to expect from Cutler. Thing is, unlike the last two QBs we played, he does have the talent to make plays. But he could implode at any second, too. To be honest, I kind of hate that he's coming off two bad games... Almost seems like he's due to have a good one.

This almost feels to me like one of those games where everyone talks about how great the Ds are and how bad the Os have been, and then it turns out to be a 34-27 game.

Practice report: Six starters miss practice

September, 28, 2012

By Calvin Watkins | ESPNDallas.com

IRVING, Texas -- The Cowboys were without six starters during Friday's practice at Valley Ranch. Of the six, four expect to play Monday night against the Chicago Bears.

Fullback Lawrence Vickers missed practice because of the flu. "I'll be out there (Saturday)," he said, adding that he should be well enough to play Monday night.

Outside linebacker Anthony Spencer is on the injury report with a shoulder injury but revealed it's his right pectoral muscle that's nicked up. Spencer raised his arm and pointed to an area between the shoulder and the chest that's bothering him.

"I plan on playing," Spencer said. "I'm hoping (to practice) tomorrow."

Among the others who missed practice were defensive end Kenyon Coleman (knee), center Phil Costa (back), safety Matt Johnson (back), punter Chris Jones (knee) and nose tackle Jay Ratliff.

Linebacker Alex Albright (stinger) and safety Gerald Sensabaugh (calf) were limited in practice. Sensabaugh said he should play and wasn't sure if he'll need a sleeve to protect his calf. Albright said he's feeling better but isn't sure if he'll play.

"Just taking it slow," he said. Then while smiling he added, "I was beating guys up on special teams. It's a day-to-day thing right now."

If Spencer is out... anyone nervous about how Butler will hold against the run?

Butler is the primary back up, right?

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte (ankle) and wide receiver Earl Bennett (hand) are questionable for Monday night's game against the Dallas Cowboys, according to coach Lovie Smith.
Chicago Bears

Forte participated in the Bears' workout Saturday after being limited in practice the previous three days. The Pro Bowl tailback sat out last week after he sprained his ankle in the third quarter of a Week 2 loss at Green Bay.

Bennett has been nursing a hand injury for the last two weeks. The wideout has caught a combined three passes for 32 yards in the last two games after posting three catches for 50 yards versus the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1.

"He's been playing and just has to keep playing and doing what he's doing and he'll be fine," Bears receivers coach Darryl Drake said.

Smith said rookie fullback Evan Rodriguez will not play Monday due to a knee injury. Rodriguez hurt the knee on the opening kickoff against the St. Louis Rams last weekend, returned to action for five plays, then was officially ruled out for the rest of the game.

Will Cowboys LB Anthony Spencer play against Chicago?
By David Moore / Reporter
7:44 pm on September 29, 2012

Anthony Spencer has vowed to play against the Bears. But the Cowboys linebacker hasn’t practiced all week with a pectoral muscle injury and is listed as questionable.

The decision on whether or not Spencer can go won’t be made until Monday night. If he’s unable to go, Victor Butler will take his place in the starting lineup.

“Victor did an excellent job in the run game last week,’’ defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said. “He really focused on that. We had a couple of mistakes in that previous game, so he’s got a lot of pride and he stepped up and did a nice job.’’

Spencer is off to a strong start this season. He is second on the team in tackles with 29. He leads the team in quarterback pressures with nine, is second in sacks with two and has knocked down a pass.

Five Cowboys players are ruled out but punter Chris Jones isn’t one of them
By Rainer Sabin / Reporter

IRVING — Five Cowboys players have been ruled out of the Cowboys’ game against Chicago on Monday.

Nose tackle Jay Ratliff (ankle), linebacker Alex Albright (neck), defensive end Kenyon Coleman (knee), center Phil Costa (back) and safety Matt Johnson (hamstring, back) won’t play against the Bears.

In a surprise move, the Cowboys designated punter Chris Jones as doubtful after he sprained his left knee last Sunday against Tampa Bay. If Jones can’t play, the newly-acquired Brian Moorman will replace him.

Linebacker Anthony Spencer (chest, shoulder) is questionable even though he did not participate in any of he three practices this week. Fullback Lawrence Vickers (illness), lineabacker DeMarcus Ware (hamstring), linebacker Kyle Wilber (thumb), defensive end Marcus Spears (knee), safety Gerald Sensabaugh (calf), defensive end Sean Lissemore (chest) and receiver Miles Austin (hamstring) are all listed as probable.

For the Bears, running back Matt Forte (ankle) and receiver Earl Bennett (hand) are questionable.
