@DCStarJEllis: Garrett says he's not expecting Ratliff to play this weekend.

Shoulda just put the guy on the PUP list for crying out loud.

He told mickey wednesday that he will play against baltimore.

Unless we get killed this sunday and the bears game becomes do or die I imagine he plays against the ravens like he said.

Welp... Espn just had on a Tampa local for one of those "scout the enemy" segments, and he acted like the Bucs don't have a chance. Said the Bucs lack talent in the back end of the D and depth on the front end. Said the Giants game collapse was caused by Talib repeatedly getting abused by Nicks and the pass rush getting tired. Also said they don't know what to make of Freeman, that he stares down Jackson too much and that allows DBs to make plays on the ball.

Basically said this is a terrible matchup for the Bucs and they'll have a very tough time against us.

So maybe this game won't be as tough as we thought.

I listened to the seattle media all last week, they were even more self depricating.....

then when they won they were all like take that bitch......we own them cowboys, they are weak and soft and romo sucks.

after spending 6 days setting up how bad they would lose.

I think we are going to win a tight close game late a la the dolphins and skins wins last year sunday but tampa should play well on offense.

The Eagles have scratched wide receiver Jeremy Maclin for Sunday's game against Arizona because of a hip pointer.

So, in light of what Cruz and Nicks did to the TB secondary, is this the week Dez notches his first 100-yard game?

Cowboys S Gerald Sensabaugh doubtful for Tampa Bay game; Five other Cowboys ruled out
By Rainer Sabin / Reporter
3:06 pm on September 21, 2012

IRVING — Five Cowboys players will definitely not play Sunday against Tampa Bay. But safety Gerald Sensabaugh isn’t one of them. Sensabaugh, who hurt his calf last Sunday in a 27-7 loss to Seattle, is listed as doubtful.

Meanwhile, linebacker Alex Albright (neck), defensive tackle Kenyon Coleman (knee), center Phil Costa (back), safety Matt Johnson (hamstring) and nose tackle Jay Ratliff (ankle) have been ruled out.

Defensive end Marcus Spears (knee) is questionable. Receiver Miles Austin (hamstring), safety Barry Church (quadricep), receiver Andre Holmes (knee), cornerback Mike Jenkins (shoulder), linebacker Sean Lee (hip), linebacker DeMarcus Ware (hamstring), linebacker Kyle Wilber (thumb), and tight end Jason Witten (spleen) are all classified as probable.

The only Tampa Bay player who has been declared not fit to play Sunday is cornerback Anthony Gaitor, who has an injured hamstring.

Cowboys vs Bucs: 5 Ways Dallas Can Score
By Jonathan Bales
Friday, Sep 21, 2012

The Tampa Bay Bucs’ defense isn’t what it once was, and I really like a lot of the matchups for the Cowboys’ offense this week. I still think Jason Garrett needs to do a better job of putting his players in a position to succeed, however. Here are five ways he can do that on Sunday. . .

DO come out throwing.
Look, I know I talk a lot about the value of passing over running, but this week the Cowboys really need to air it out. The Bucs have given up over 400 passing yards per game in the first two weeks of the season; that’s more than every team in the NFL, including the two that have already played three games.

The key, as always, will be giving Tony Romo plenty of time to throw. The Cowboys might be best served keeping tight end Jason Witten in to help block. Last week, Witten went out into a route on 88.6 percent of the pass snaps he played. Historically, Witten has been a receiver on only around three-fourths of pass plays, and believe it or not, the ‘Boys have put up superior numbers when Witten isn’t in a route.

By utilizing two-tight end formations and max protection, the ‘Boys can provide Romo with ample protection to attack the struggling Bucs secondary.

DO target Aqib Talib.
Talib has been horrible in the season’s first two weeks. Only three cornerbacks have been targeted more often than Talib and none have allowed more yards per game. I watched all of Talib’s snaps against Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks last week, and Talib was really inconsistent with his press. That’s good news for Dez Bryant, who really struggled with press coverage from Seattle last week.

DON’T run static formations.
Despite Talib’s struggles in press coverage, I think you’ll see him at least attempt to jam Bryant on Sunday. At 6’1’’, Talib doesn’t have the same length as Seattle cornerbacks Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman, so I really think Bryant will be able to get into his routes cleanly.

To ensure that, however, Jason Garrett should dial up pre-snap motions. By moving Bryant before the snap—something Garrett rarely does—it will limit the ability for Talib to get his hands on the third-year receiver. It is imperative that the Cowboys get Bryant going early on Sunday so he doesn’t lose confidence, but I think you’re going to see what I’ve been predicting as a “monster game” from Bryant.

DON’T run up the middle.
Yesterday, I labeled the Cowboys’ interior line versus defensive tackle Gerald McCoy as one of the three premiere matchups to watch against the Bucs. McCoy represents what I believe is the Bucs’ biggest advantage over the Cowboys’ offense, so it’s probably best to avoid testing him. I have doubts that Ryan Cook and Mackenzy Bernadeau are going to be able to get a push on McCoy inside, so the Cowboys will need to find another place to run, even in short-yardage situations.

DO run some counters and other misdirection plays.
Since 2009, the Cowboys have averaged 7.2 yards-per-carry on counters. 7.2 YPC! DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones both excel on counters, as do both offensive tackles. Despite that, Garrett has called only one counter all season. Using counters and other misdirection plays against Tampa Bay might be a good way to take advantage of their quick defense and get the running game going.

Wonder which Dallas helter skelter version shows up tomorrow.

If they could win these next two home games before the bye, it'd go along way towards eliminating the sting of last weeks pathetic loss, but something tells me that niether game will be easy.

It isnt the end of the season if we lose tomorrow, but there'd be a massive shit storm brewing out there if they lost.

We're going to win them both dbair.

3-1 at the break with two weeks to get healthy and prepare for a huge game in Baltimore.

I think we are going to need to and will score a bunch of points in the next two games. I imagine these games look like last year where no lead is safe and romo needs the ball at the end.

I can see the next two games being like the Mia and was games last year.

And no I'm not guessing.

Interesting stats. In two games Dallas has a total of 6 passes defensed and no interceptions. This despite an overhauled secondary and a new DB coach.

Tampa Bay has an incredible 21 (yes, TWENTY ONE) passes defensed and 5 picks in two weeks.

Nobody on our team has more than one PD right now. Tampa has 4 players with at least 3, and two that have 5.

Tampa has also vastly out produced us in tackles for loss. They have 11 in two weeks, we have a total of 5.

Obviously we can't fix everything on one off-season but this shows me we really need to find another pressure player and a safety with true deep coverage ability. Ware needs help and that will lead to more bad decisions by QB's and a safety who can maintain deep coverage will take advantage of those bad decisions.

There's a kid at Georgia who would look awfully good with a Star on his helmet next year, but unless we really tank this year there's little chance we could get him.
