Niners have a pretty solid backfield with Jacobs and Gore.

Just glad his mouth is out of the division.

It'll be interesting to see if he has anything left. Last year he was awful til he played us and then down the stretch. Interesting the 49ers got both him and Manningham from the Giants. Guess they can show off their shiny new rings to their new teammates.

One annoying thing is that the Niners moves make sense. Most of our moves (Bernadette, Livings, starting Costa and Nagy) leave fans scrambling to come up with excuses and making all this reasoning up about why they are correct. Then, a year later, Jerry Jones himself will admit that he fucked up, and people will still defend him.

Guys like Hos would have given up their right kidney in support of Costa and now the FO is even admitting that was a dumb idea. It just supports the idea that if your initial reaction to a move is "WTF"...then you're probably correct.

The New England Patriots on Thursday signed free-agent linebacker Bobby Carpenter, a first-round draft selection of the Dallas Cowboys in 2006.

Carpenter, an Ohio State product, played in 58 games for Dallas over four seasons, making three starts. He was traded to the St. Louis Rams in May 2010, but did not make their 53-man roster.

He split the 2010 season between the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions. Carpenter played in 16 games last season in Detroit (three starts), recording 29 tackles.

At 6-foot-2, 249 pounds, the 28-year-old Carpenter has played both 3-4 inside linebacker and 4-3 outside linebacker.

"I think, by just about every measurable term, they are the most successful franchise in the last 10 years," Carpenter said of the Patriots on Sirius XM radio Thursday night. "They've been to five Super Bowls and won three. They have a terrific quarterback and terrific coaches. I don't know really what else you could hope for as a player going to a team."

Carpenter added that part of his appeal in signing with the Patriots is the way coaches tap every player on the roster.

"If you have a specific talent they're going to find a way to utilize that, on either side of the ball, whatever it is," he said. "That's why you see so many guys playing and so many guys contributing in different ways. They do an excellent job of talent utilization and really try to find a way to get all 53 guys on the roster onto the field at some point in time so they can help the team win games."

Carpenter said he was open to a return to the Lions.

"I loved my time in Detroit. It was terrific. I was able to be part of a special team there, turning it around; it kind of embodies the whole spirit of the city. From outside Columbus, being a Midwest guy, it was great to play close to home. The opportunity didn't present itself the way I had hoped [this offseason]," he explained, before looking ahead.

"I've always been a huge fan of coach Belichick and the Patriots and the way they've done things. They were willing to bring me in and I couldn't wait. I'm really excited to be part of the New England Patriots franchise and everything they stand for."

Wasn't he supposed to be a stud because he was so good at such a young age?

Yes. Youngest player drafted or some shit.

Houston spent a lot of resources beefing up their Dline way back when....

Speaking of Houston, they're signing Bradie James.

Hats off to the former Cowboy. I wish him well.

Cowboys claim Akwasi Owusu-Ansah
May, 8, 2012 May 84:40PM CTBy Todd Archer | ESPNDallas.com

IRVING, Texas – Akwasi Owusu-Ansah is getting another chance with the Cowboys after the club claimed him off waivers from Jacksonville on Tuesday.

A fourth-round pick in 2010, Owusu-Ansah was cut by the Cowboys on Nov. 30, 2011, after playing in three games on special teams. He joined the Jaguars’ practice squad and was called up to the active roster for the final four games, starting twice. He finished with 14 tackles.

Owusu-Ansah was converted to safety after the Cowboys drafted him but his development was hurt by shoulder surgery coming out of Indiana (Pa.). He played in seven games as a rookie, working mostly as a returner, before an ankle injury ended his season. Last year, the Cowboys eventually moved him to wide receiver before his release last season.

He is expected to play either safety of cornerback in his return.

The team also claimed kicker Jake Rogers off waivers from Tampa Bay, leaving the roster at 89. With the release of David Buehler and Kai Forbath earlier in the offseason, the Cowboys had only one kicker, Dan Bailey, on the roster. Rogers, who left as the University of Cincinnati’s all-time leading scorer, can also punt. He also has spent time with New Orleans.

Jacoby Jones 2 Baltimore. Wasn't just lack of cap space that kept Cowboys away. Lack of interest too from what I've been told

For as good a GM as Ozzie is supposed to be, he sure seems to always be scrapping the bottom of the burn barrel for a receiver.

They gave up a draft pick last year for Evans and he did nothing.

I would take Ozzie over alot of other guys though.

Funny how in Dallas we have arguably the best starting receivers in the NFL. Yet that'll fly over the cabals collective heads as they rant on job titles.

Under what grounds? They've had a world class defense since the turn of the millennium, and only one title to show for it, largely because they failed for multiple years to find a suitable QB, and are now failing to get pieces around a somewhat decent QB.

Meanwhile, their division rival has won two Super Bowls...no problem. Seems like GM is not some infallible deity.

Lets not fight though. Would be awkward if 2 of 6 members here did not get along.

When did we get a sixth member?

Ozzie can never seem to find certain positions: QB, CB and WR.

I think he is probably in decent shape at corner now and I do think Torrey Smith can be pretty good.
