2011 Season Game Threads Mega-Merge

That sounds like something I probably would've been interested in a few years ago. I remember calling Directv and trying to order channels where the Cowboys pre-season games were on.

For some reason, I had almost no interest in our game last night. I watched NFL Network, who was good enough to show a lot of our game during the first quarter or so. But then I just lost interest.

Thats how I've always been about pre-season games. I'll usually watch a quarter here or a quarter there, then go do something else.

I wanted to watch last night because we have so many intriguing young guys, and I like wanted to see what looks Ryan tossed out there.

Butler was makin' plays. Also seemed like Cummings was always around the ball.

McGee was pretty great. So was Harris.

Our run blocking still looks atrocious. Rather than creating space and running lanes we seem to all condense into a disorganized pile and die.

fwiw randy white and joe avezzano repeatedly said they are zone blocking all night to see how these young guys can handle the game....and white repeatedly said it is causing some guys to struggle.

Really? its the start of the year and you have no interest already...I couldnt wait to get to the stadium last night. I enjoy the preseason, this is the time where we see if the team is on the right track developing players and if they can handle playing in the league.

zone blocking should create more movement, not the shit I saw last night. In reality I think our Oline was just getting physically dominated. They got no push at all, and in fact got pushed back. Not cool.

you would think, but they both kept saying it for whatever reason. Denver really came after them alot with overloading and blitzing. Didnt come off that bad to me after two weeks of practice and two rookies and costa and no bennett.

but that second unit was absolutely dreadful. I dont think they went forward once.

Our defensive line is more of a concern to me. It didnt push the pile at all. Igor olshansky looked completely useless. I dont think he has a chance of making this roster. Clifton Geathers is enormous...and he played all right. Sean lissemore played at different spots and seemed to show the ability we have heard about him having. THey are going to make olshansky go bye bye.

Hatcher looked nice, but overall our DL looked poor. I don't think Brent flashed whatever he's been showing in camp, Lissemore had some nice plays but he also got manhandled a couple times I think they ran right at him on Quinn's first TD drive.

If we rolled with that sort of lineup that we had to start last night Free-Arkin-Costa-Kosier-Smith I think we could do some real work with a zone blocking setup. really we'd almost have to. Use their athleticism to get in the DL's hip and move laterally rather than straight ahead, which would also be great for Felix and Murray imo because Murray is classic one-cut style. When Gurode comes back he really is kind of an odd-man on that line.
