Okay, I found something about Antonio Gates playing basketball in P.E. and being pretty good. But the hoops were at 8' instead of 10' and the ball wasn't a regulation ball.

I also read that his first choice as a kid was to play in the NBA cause his Dad played center for the Celtics on one of their championship teams. He soon gave up the dream as he was born with hammer toes and basketball shoes are too painful for him to wear.
