A little conspiracy theory for ya: If you're Ashton Jeanty, and you want to play for Dallas (which he has said he does), do you slightly, a tab bit, tank it at the combine on purpose and let your agent communicate with Dallas? Maybe refuse to run the 40 or something?

Being drafted at 12 is still a nice payday.

My hunch is the Saints take him. "But the Saints already have Kamara". True, but the Saints also have an out in Kamara's contract in 2025. If Kamara is a post 6/1 release the dead money in 2025 is 10.1 and 15.2 in 2026 (not that bad). If he is a 6/1 trade, the cap hit in 2025 is only 7.1 and 15.2 in 2026 (very doable).

Niners could also pull the trigger. McCaffery is always hurt now (a Sean Lee type), but they do not have an out in the contract until 2026, so less likely.

I actually think he'll end up being strongly considered by several teams. New England at 4 could consider him. They have their QB. They need OL and WR help, but are any of them worth the 4th overall pick? They could use defensive help, but Carter and Hunter are likely to be gone. Is a DT (even one as good as Graham) definitely worth the 4th pick? They have a defensive minded HC that likes to run the football and saw first hand in TN what a franchise back can mean for his team. The Raiders badly want a QB but may not have one to pick from at 6, last yr they didnt really "need" a TE (had drafted one in 2nd rd previous yr) but Brock Bowers was a true franchise caliber TE and was by far the highest rated player on their board, and they took him. Pete Carroll is another defensive minded HC that likes to run the ball, and the Raiders have nothing at RB right now. Agree with you on the Saints being a possibility. There's the Boise ties with the HC, and he just had a Super Bowl season in large part because he had a true franchise back carry the offense. I think the Bears can't be ruled out. They spent money on Deandre Swift last yr but he is not a 15-20-25 carry a game back, and Ben Johnson came from a team that had a dynamite RB tandem (and used a high 1st rd pick on Jamyr Gibbs two seasons ago)

In the end I don't think we get the chance to draft Jeanty, but barring something unforeseen if he is there for us at 12 he'll be by far the best player on the board and would help the offensive immensely.

I don't know guys....I'm just not seeing it with Jeanty and I don't think he's anything like Emmitt.......I actually think Zeke was a better prospect in terms of size and speed. I'd go with a bigger back and take DT in the 1st. Of course, it all depends how the board falls but I don't jump the gun on this guy.

NE has that Rhamondre Stevenson. He's pretty good. It's certainly possible, but my hunch is no because NE has a lot of cap space. They can resign Stevenson.

Last I checked, NE was ranked 1 in cap space with over 119 million available. Dallas was near the bottom (in red). So I think OL and WR help makes more sense for them given they already have a good young RB.

Pete Carroll, maybe, always depends on who is there.

A lot is going to depend on what the Titans think of Will Levis relative to Ward and Shedeur. I've seen mocks where both the Titans and the Browns skip the QB position. While I can see the Titans passing on QB, I find it hard to believe the Browns will, but I have seen it.

It's very possible the Titans trade out of it.

I think if Jeanty isn't there at 12 that the Cowboys should strongly consider trading down as many times as possible but stay in round 1.

Stevenson is a JAG, he averaged under 4 yds per carry last yr and also fumbled a bunch.

I don't think its a lock by any means that New England would pick Jeanty, but they may consider it.

If the Browns trade out of the 2nd spot, they couldn't be ruled out to pick Jeanty either. They've got nothing at RB either.

Like I said, for me it's kind of a no-brainer to pick him at 12 if he is there, but I don't think he will be. Agree with you on the trade down idea if Jeanty (or someone rated similarly high) isn't there.

Do you mean he plays for the Jaguars or does that mean something else?

He is listed on the NE team roster. on their website

I personally look for teams that are relatively tight against the cap and need to get younger and cheaper. That's why I think the Saints is a possibility, not the Boise State connection (although it might help).

While the Patriots are ranked 1 in cap space, the Saints are ranked DEAD LAST in cap space, worse than Dallas. I read that the Saints owner told Kellen she wasn't expecting much in the first two years because of their cap problems.

Their cap space is currently a negative ($52,578,803).

In 2025 they have an out with both Carr and Kamara, but the numbers suggest dumping Kamara is less of a hit. So, I guess it would depend on what moves they make there.

I personally don't see Kirk Cousins, Sam Darnold, or whoever as significantly better than Carr. I do think a healthy Rodgers is better than Carr, but I don't think Rodgers will play for the Saints.

So I'm thinking, dump Kamara and replace him with Jeanty. But who knows, maybe Sheduer is there and they love him.

Maybe they will dump both depending on how much they like their draft.

JAG is fan jargon for "Just Another Guy" meaning they're nothing special.
