2:18 Gerry Fraley: The first air horn just sounded.
Cowboys camp is underway.
Saturday July 24, 2010 2:18 Gerry Fraley
2:18 Gerry Fraley: Let the record show that rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant was the first player on the field, nealry 30 minutes ahead of his teammates.

Safety is the biggest concern for me going into camp. Do you see them going to get a vet before the regular season?
Saturday July 24, 2010 2:18 Gary
2:19 Gerry Fraley: No. Any vet on the street now is not worth much. Alan Ball gets first shot, but do not rule out Michael Hamlin. He was playmaker at Clemson. It's a long way from the ACC to the NFL, but he's got a chance.

Does Doug Free look like he gained any weight from last year. Strength/Power seem to be the big concern with him.
Saturday July 24, 2010 2:21 Ryan
2:21 Gerry Fraley: Free appears about the same. With Free and Barron, the Cowboys have two of the slimmer tackles in the league. They don't have the wide lower bodies of most tackles.
Saturday July 24, 2010 2:21 Gerry Fraley
2:21 [Comment From GaryGary: ]
What are your impressions of Alex Barron? Can he be Marc Columbo, The Sequel?
Saturday July 24, 2010 2:21 Gary
2:22 Gerry Fraley: Barron has good athletic skills, enough to help him on the left side against pass-rushers. As mentioned before, his lower body is more of an NBA small forward than a left tackle. No backside, if you know what I mean.

Other than Dez Bryant or Sean Lee, do you see any of the other rookies surprising us this camp?
Saturday July 24, 2010 2:25 Ted
2:26 Gerry Fraley: Not really. Wall had trouble throughout mini-camps with the transition to what the Cowboys expect of their corners.
I would not discount RB Lonyae Miller, an udrafted free agent from Fresno State. He opened some eyes in off-season workouts.

Do you think Lee can handle the nickel LB spot? He should be better than Carpenter was.
Saturday July 24, 2010 2:27 RedLine
2:28 Gerry Fraley: Carpenter actually found a niche in the nickel, but he was never going to be an every-down player. Lee has the kind of ability. Smart and tough kid from a strong program. He might have more of an immediate impact than Bryant. Brooking will turn 35 during the season, and older players tend to get hurt.
