Thoughts on Day One:

1) Booker pick- I get it, it's another OL. That said he's an excellent player on the field and we play in a division loaded with primo interior DL's. Our OL appears set for years to come and there should be little pocket movement/collapsing on our severely challenged QB now. Run lanes should be aplenty. We have a HC who has been steadfast since he was hired that we were going to run the ball and be physical. The new OC is a proven OL coach who ran a great scheme in Arizona, and we hired one of the best OL coaches in college football for that role here. They kind of put their money where their mouth was by picking this guy. Wished we could have traded down a few picks and took him, but there were ZERO trades between 2 and 25 which is probably solid evidence that the deals just really weren't there.

2) Will be interesting to see what positions they target today. They obviously are in need of help at RB and WR, but CB, safety, DT, edge rusher and LB are also significant concerns and we need help there. They could potentially alleviate one or two of those by trading for help (WR, RB and CB help has all been rumored via trade) but if not, they don't have enough premium picks to get the help they need without just getting lucky. We have a bg gap in picks between 76 (3rd rd) and 149 (where we pick in round 5). Somehow getting another 3rd or 4th should be a priority for them.

3) Both Ohio State RB's (Henderson and Judkins) were official 30 visits. The one issue we may have is they are almost consensus to be next two RB's picked. Two RB needy teams draft in front of us and BOTH of them have two 2nd rd picks (Browns and Bears) so we get shutout on these two. Either would be great, but Judkins and his power would seem to be ideal running behind our new OL and run block scheme.

4) Hate the Giants, but they had a good night last night. Abdul Carter is probably not Lawrence Taylor, but he is damn good and a real disruptor. They resisted the overwhelming media pressure and hype behind ultra bust waiting to happen clown show Sanders kid and took Jaxson Dart after moving back into the 1st rd. Dart is a much better fit for the outdoors in the NE and has success against the SEC. He's got a leaders attitude and some quality size/skill. Of the QB's I thought the Giants might take, he was the one I didn't want them to get. Obviously all QB's have an uphill climb, but they may have found a quality future starter here.

5) Falcons double dipping and getting two explosive pass rushers in Walker and Pearce (when they had none) was a good upgrade for them, although it seems 100% the consensus that they vastly overpaid to move back into the 1st for Pearce.

6) I think the Browns blew it again and while they did recoup some of the draft picks they pissed away in the awful Deshaun Watson trade, they passed on two franchise caliber players at 2 to move down and take a guy that I am not sure is going to be all that good in the NFL in DT Mason Graham. He does play with great leverage, but athletically he isnt impressive, he has shorter than normal arms and he just has a bad looking football body. Maybe he can change it some in a NFL weight program but its not like Michigan doesn't have great facilities and staff.

7) Raiders and Chargers got the two best RB's (either of whom I'd have loved to have got) and they are both on our schedule next year. Harbaugh now has two primo power backs to run in his pound the rock scheme.

8) Glad we didnt get the chance to draft the skinny WR from Arizona. Once I saw him in action last night he came off as a 100% dipshit, almost Eminem wanna be douche. I can see why there were reports during the draft meeting process that he rubbed some teams the wrong way. Seems like a dude destined to be a bust.

9) Just sickening, horrendous coverage of the draft by the NFL last night. Both NFLN and ESPN were a complete joke and the nearly 4 hours of run time was mostly fucking commercials. Worst I have ever seen and it will be the last yr I ever watch any of the sports channels broadcast it. Sickening slobberfest over Prime Slime's vastly overrated spawn and then completely nauseating Packer love over Matthew Golden and his ugly fucking suit. I'm sure the next two days will be equally as horrible.

None of this was my source of disgust. That we could have gotten this guy later, is.
How much later?

Zabel went 6 spots after him and then Donovan Jackson went at 24. Booker was rated above both of them.

I wish we could have moved down to get an extra pick or two as well, but seeing no trades between pick 2 and pick 25 is rather telling.

We never used a 1st round pick on an o-lineman while Jimmy was here and coaching built the great wall. Not fancy pants first rounders.

It's a done deal now anyway and the kid is a big ole grizzly bear so let's go!

Very true. Big E and Step were the highest drafted OL that we kept (he did draft Steve Wisnewski in the 2nd but we traded him)

We just had a bunch of bust their ass guys who were extremely well coached.

Will this work? Its a lot of premium resources into the OL now and there's no excuse for them to not have an elite unit. We should have clean pockets on pass plays and be able to dominate or exert our will in the run game, especially in the 4th qtr. Jones intimated the RB itself wasn't as important as the people blocking in front of them (again, not what we saw when Jimmy was here) so we shall see. If the line is just ok or we revert to Prescott slinging it all over the field then this was a waste.

If the defense isn't scared half to death of "the RB itself" the run game isn't going to work no matter who's blocking. You absolutely MUST have a bell cow. A whirling dervish. Air of danger. A guy who's liable to wind up in the opponent end zone on any given touch.

Jones has never respected that. It was the cause of the Emmitt holdout. How well did our world championship running game with the vaunted Great Wall actually do during those two games? And Jerruh learned nothing from that.

And we need a QB! Dak is on the physically breaking down phase of his career. Need to get that QB tonight. Just, not Manure Sanders. But hell, if Jerruh did that it would at least show us he understands his problem.

Dak will sulk if we pick anyone that is a perceived threat to him. And Jerry wouldn't do that to his prized QB. So we won't pick a QB tonight. Maybe we'll pick a developmental QB tomorrow with one of our 7th rounders.

Will he sulk or just break physically from pushing too hard?

I'd be OK with Sanders. Not because I think he'll take the team to the promised land, but it's at least a shot at improving the position by throwing more numbers at it and let the best slug win.

Whatta circus that would be. A billion dollars in swag sales for Jerruh.

Well that isnt exactly true. They drafted felix Jones (1st rd) to pair with Marion Barber. Demarco Murray was a sensational pick and then they used the 4th pick overall on Zeke.

I dont know why he made that dumbass comment this week, I suspect its just because he has almost no real brainwave activity, just like Sleepy Joe dipshit former Pres.

I think they might draft someone else this weekend (probably tomorrow, but they did acquire Milton to develop and see what he has.

Next year is going to be the real QB draft for us I suspect.

OMG now I am seriously worried about our Amigo.

Prime Slimes kid has no chance whatsoever to be a quality starting QB. On top of him being a complete circus sideshow.

They traded for Milton and I think they might draft someone else tomorrow, but Sanders aint it.

Of the QB's for the remainder of the weekend, Will Howard interests me some. They seem to have done a lot of work on Quinn Ewers. Kyle McCord from Syracuse might be interesting. Super sleeper pick- Hunter Dekkers from Iowa Western. Has an off field thing that needs some splaining (ended up losing eligibility over a gambling thing) but kid has decent size and excellent arm talent.

It may be more of an issue of Jerry really having NO core philosophy. And just throws different shit against the wall to see what sticks.

2026....early QB will be a lock unless by some miracle Prescott has a great season and we actually advance in the playoffs

and even then they might be ready to pull the trigger early on the next guy
