Didn't Emmett hold out until the third game of the season until Troy Aikman told Jerry Jones to pull his head from his ass after their first two loses of the season and re-sign him? Jones just needs sign Lamb for what he's asking an get the team focused Dak's best season of his worthless career and their run to the Superbowl. *winks*
Emmitt actually held out as a rookie too before he famously missed the first two games of 1993 as well.

It wasn't just Aikman who implored Jones to get Emmitt signed, it was a bunch of folks. Haley, Irvin, Jimmy etc etc all kind of read him the riot act. Emmitt had a real sickbag of an agent at the time and his 2nd holdout came because he forced the Cowboys hand as a rookie, when he signed a deal for only 3 yrs.

I'd consider it for 2 number one picks and a 3rd. One of the easiest positions to replace is WR. And if Dak truly thinks she deserves 55 million per because "it's his turn," then he needs to earn it by being able to produce with maybe a lesser WR. Patrick Mahomes, IMHO, did it. Justin Herbert is being asked to do it.

I understand Jefferson in MN got paid, but they don't have a QB. Tua is making PEANUTS in 2024, so they can afford to give lots of cheese to the WR. 2025 is also reasonable. In 2026 he gets PAID, but they have an out in 2027. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/player/_/id/47598/tua-tagovailoa

For 2 number ones, yes, I'd think very hard about it.

Oh what am I talking about? Jerry is the same guy who traded Amari Cooper for a 6th and gave up a 1. And gave up a 4th for Lance who still can't throw the football.
Eh.

Lamb is arguably the best player on the team and is just entering his prime. Getting two number ones plus something else is worth thinking about, but you dont know what those players will be either. Right now, this team doesnt have any receivers who look capable of being a #1 guy. I'm not even sure we have bonafide #2 guy (we may but its debatable). Trading him would likely be disastrous for the offense as we don't have a great (or even good) RB either. We'd struggle to put 20 pts a game on the board I suspect.

A bunch of WR's got huge deals this offseason or last. Jefferson, Hill, Waddle (same team), Amon Ra St Brown, D Adams, DJ Moore, Cooper Kupp, AJ Brown and D Smith (same team) etc etc. Lamb is just as good if not better than all or most of these guys. Even on his 5th yr guarantee, Lamb won't even be in the top-25 of WR's in terms of pay.

Cooper got traded for a 5th and a lot of it had to do with his cap situation. At the time, his cap charge was quite high and it definitely limited his market and potential value for us.

Players play the game. Players make the plays. It looked to me like Bennett made a nice play.
eh again

not hard to make plays when there's absolutely no pass rush at all, which is what Bennett saw for the entire game save 1 or 2 plays...the fact that he still threw 4 ints (got saved by a penalty on a 5th, and had a couple others dropped) shows how lousy he must be...I'm a huge UGA guy and had some interest in us drafting him, but after last seasons mental health (or substance abuse) issues and then seeing him yesterday, pretty glad we didnt take him.

and it looked like it on the field too...had to be one of the more vanilla looking defenses for 60 minutes that I've seen...hopefully it was by design because it was preseason week one

IIRC, Irvin threw a chair across the locker room after their 2nd loss in a row, whizzing past jeri's dumb face, too bad he missed

Just watched the highlights of the Rams game. Wasn't that impressed with Lance. He looked hesitant to pull the trigger even when receivers were running open. Maybe he was nervous about throwing picks like Stetson Bennett was doing, but I didn't like it. 1-0 to Cooper Rush going on that performance.

Lance didn't do himself any favors and he should have looked better after 3 years in the league and 4 training camps. But he's athletic and has a nice arm. But what drove me wild were his mechanics and I'd bet that pisses off hsi coaches as well.

He'll definately have more time to show he's worthy of a roster spot but I just didn't see "it."

I also don't put any stock in the game and just ran through the recording last night. But I'll say that the Rams were saved on a 4th down penalty that kept the final drive alive. And it's obvious that this team won't get any obvious holding penalties called. I mean, the DL were being hooked right in front of the refs and there were no calls.

Cooper is the entrenched #2 and I just don't see how Lance beats him out barring some miracle preseason from here on out.
