Brian Schottenheimer is our new OC

I'd like to say it's upgrade but I just can't. So much for an innovative mide. Instead, we get a retread from multiple teams.

He was the OC for a team that got Mark Sanchez to two conference title games though.

In Seattle, Russell Wilson had three outstanding years under Schottenheimer and they also ranked at the top of the league in rushing yards and attempts his first two years there.

There were also multiple reports that Quinn was going to take Schottenheimer with him to be OC had he taken a HC job.

I'm not jumping for joy or anything, but I don't think this was a bad move. Plus, McCarthy is installing most of his system and calling plays anyway.

The only thing that's troublesome, is Schottenheimer has never ranked better than 14th in passing yards per game in 14 seasons. Who knows, he could work out being he loves the running game. Moore was too conservative.

He's been dedicated to having strong run games, which is what we need with a QB that struggles with untimely interceptions and seems very limited in his ability to scan the entire field.

Yep he's all about the run game, Fat Mike is installing his version of the West Coast offense and will be calling the plays. Zone blocking schemes is Schottenheimer's specialty.

And they had just hired Mike Solari to coach the OL, and he has been one of the better OL coaches the past 25 years or so. Had outstanding OL's in San Fran and Kansas City

Solari is OG zone scheme.

And really the deal has been, Helen Keller's offense (which is Ginger's offense) and play calling were just stale and quite predictable. Opponents simply knew what was coming at all times. And he never learned from that or from his own mistakes. He won't do well in LA, mark my words.

I wouldn't do it. He's a really good player but he also had a major injury. I'm not sure he'd garner much interest (especially in the initial weaves of free agency) anyway.

Unless they are tagging him with the intent to trade him (doubtful, because the Jones' are stupid when it comes to this) then franchise tagging him seems like a waste. He plays a position which teams have clearly learned is not all that hard to fill.

I'd rather draft one early (even with our pick in the 1st) rather than tag Pollard and keep Zeke. The difference in cap numbers is enormous and we'd be getting a really talented young player on a rookie deal for a minimum of 4 or 5 years.

Dak Prescott on Kellen Moore departure: I’m upset, but I’m happy for him

Posted by Josh Alper on February 10, 2023, 9:10 AM EST

The Cowboys made a major offensive change after they were eliminated from the playoffs when they parted ways with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and set head coach Mike McCarthy up to call the team’s plays during the 2023 season.

Many players will be impacted by that change and quarterback Dak Prescott will be at the very top of that list. Prescott briefly weighed in on Moore’s departure while making appearances at the Super Bowl in Arizona on Thursday.

“I’m upset, but I’m happy for him,” Prescott said, via Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.

Prescott’s happy for Moore because he is now the offensive coordinator of the Chargers and he’ll have to get over his other feelings ahead of next season in order for the team to put forth their best bid to advance past the divisional round for the first time since Prescott came to Dallas.

And Lawrence, And Jaylon Smith. I mean with the injuries yet still given 2nd contracts that is.
Lawrence and Jaylon Smith are completely different circumstances.

One is actually a really, really good player and the other is a gimp legged dope.

For a man who says there’s no check he wouldn’t write to win another Super Bowl, this philosophy makes little sense. It sounds even worse when in the last few years, the Super Bowl winners have been extremely aggressive in spending in FA & trading draft capital to procure the best talent.
