I've got this bad feeling. Jerry is going to trade down and reach for a guy a round earlier than the rest of the world would.

Of course, we already know to pencil in a TE in the second as well as an Arkansas RB in the 4th or 5th. That is just de rigueur with Jerry.

Yeah, arm strength matters quite a bit.

Now this is the part where someone mentions Jeff George or how Jamarcus Russell could throw 60 yards on his knees. But the reality is those guys lacked other critical criteria in a successful QB.

I'll agree that arm strength can be overrated, but to say it doesn't matter that much is foolish.

I think both qbs are gone before we get on the clock.

The Collins kid from Arkansas is good, but he will likely go well before 4th/5th round.

With Escobar's injury, Witten's age and nothing else to speak of on the roster, whether any of us like it or not TE is a concern. Maybe they can find a mid priced free agent in lieu of using a draft pick.

You mean the other RB from Arky who got hurt this year, right? Isn't Collins a true sophomore? Or was that episode about his mom not signing his LOI really three years ago...

Speaking of Arky, is Hunter Henry really that good? Good all-arounder, but is he athletic enough to make plays?

Collins is a junior, he took over for Jonathan Williams after he got hurt. Williams is also a good prospect.

Collins also had over 1000 yds last year and his FR yr as Williams' backup.

I think Henry is a great TE prospect but I bet he ends up going late first/early to mid 2nd at latest.

I like Collins. Reminds me of Gurley light. Maybe it's just the dreadlocks though. Has he declared?

I don't think he has officially but one of my friends is an Arkansas alum, he says everyone thinks its a sure thing he goes pro.

anyone that rates Arm Strength over what is between the ears is a MORON. As some have shown here. Limp noodle is rare- Moore and a few others like that. By the time you get to major college football limp arms are frankly not around much. Certainly there are basic levels that are needed (no 5'6" QBs need apply)

so IDIOTS that try and use Moore as an example are the dumbest of the dumb.

The only thing Lynch has besides height over Goff is that his arm is a LITTLE stronger. Whoopie doo. Goff's arm is plenty strong enough to get everything done.

And as time has shown the ability to hit a receiver 50 yards downfield in stride is hugely over rated

But, nobody has. You're arguing against something no one asserted.

HOWEVER the fair point WAS made, that if you like weak arms then Moore's your Boy.

Two different draft sites have the Boys taking a WR (Treadwell) OR LB (Jaylon Smith).
Since Smith blew out his near the other day, if Jerry uses the 4th pick to take him, it will be a wasted pick.
Boys already have a LB that is always dinged up.
Treadwell is good but not at #4.
I believe if Goff is drafted before the Boys, they will pass on Lynch. Jerry will then trade the #4 pick and move to the early/middle part of round.
Take a DT or LB at that point and gain a pick.
My 2 cents.

That seems to conservative. I think Jerry wants to make a splash this offseason to get the fans into it. I'd expect us to stay at #4 and get an impact player somewhere.

Lynch or Goff. If they are gone. Bosa or Ramsey.

Bosa is a great talent, just not sure if its best use of resources. Lawrence really came on, they drafted Gregory last yr and they could still re-sign Hardy (although I wouldn't). If they don't re-sign Hardy maybe you play Bosa at RDE or move Lawrence there and play Bosa at LDE, leaving Gregory as a rotational/nickel pass rusher.

I like Ramsey, but our team has lacked playmakers in the secondary for a long time and he doesn't exactly make many plays (no picks this yr, I think he only has 2 or 3 for his career). I know there is an element of luck with picks sometimes and the stat shouldn't be a be all/end all, but he doesn't seem to be a ballhawk type whether he is a CB or a FS.

Gregory was very disappointing. a skinny guy who has to take a wide circle around the OT in order to get to the QB. gotta put on muscle this off-season. Hardy was THE disappointment, however. a few quick sacks against Tom Brady and then .. next to nothing. why he wasn't the force here that he was in Carolina is a mystery, and he had a shitload of incentive$ to play for. he squared off against a backup OT yesterday and aside from one pressure against Cousins, he was silent as a lamb. baffling.

I have a feeling his problem is a lot more than just that. Got a bad feeling he's a knucklehead/doesn't care that much, which was a knock on him at Nebraska. It wasn't just the weed.

Was listening to Dennis and Friedman and they commented that year after year the Patriots make great draft picks. I don't buy that theory at all. The Patriots develop, mold and train players to be functional and reliable playmakers. Gregory was supposed to bulk up in order to be effective, but they didn't set him up for success. He was still undersized and expected to play a role reserved for defensive ends who are 260-280 lbs. This is the nature of the Jason years. Plug any player into a system requiring a very specific skillset and then get confused why it's not working well. I think the Pats would have moved Gregory back to a blitzing OLB for this year while he bulked.

The best example is Devin Streets who even Jerry said needed to improve his strength and his bulk in order to play. Did they wait for that? No. They said he could run all the routes, so put him in. The problem was that he will never be ready for the speed that the route need and he is far too thin to be able to get through press coverage or physically manage how to fight through a defender who knows your route better than you do.

There is no development. That is why none of this is surprising that when Romo was injured and when Callahan/Murray left and when Dez went down, the remaining depth was just a thin layer of cellophane left over that was transparent, easily punctured and snapped, and could not be trusted as a replacement.

I think Gregory will be fine. He definitely looked like a difference maker in preseason and before he had that high ankle sprain in game one was really doing some good things in that game.

When it happened it definitely had the looks of a season ender. It obviously bothered him most, if not all the season.

stop making excuses. his ankle has nothing to do with being undersized.
