May as well get this started.

Sounds like NYG wont be waiting around for Black Monday. At least it took them less than two years to figure out what Jones and co still haven't figured out about Garrett in over 10. That he aint the answer.

Sources: Giants could fire coach Ben McAdoo in 24 hours after Sunday's game vs. Raiders

Ben McAdoo's near two-year run as head coach of the New York Giants is coming to an end, and he could be fired in the 24 hours after Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders, league sources told ESPN. Giants general manager Jerry Reese's standing also is highly tenuous, according to sources, though any timing on his potential departure is more uncertain than McAdoo's.

Firing McAdoo would come less than one week after the Giants benched starting quarterback Eli Manning, a move that now is being considered the final straw in what has become a very un-Giants-like season for a franchise that never has fired a head coach in season, according to sources.

Giants owner John Mara is extremely fond of Manning, and felt the situation highlighted his belief that McAdoo has lacked communication skills during his time as the team's head coach, according to sources. Mara took responsibility for the sloppiness in which Manning was informed of the situation but was unhappy with how McAdoo presented the plan to the franchise's two-time Super Bowl MVP quarterback.

Former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was one of many of Manning's former teammates to express their disapproval of the benching on Twitter, saying, "They did my boy dirty."

In addition to communication issues, the Giants' offense has lacked creativity, especially when the team has been trying to cover for weaknesses along the offensive line and injuries at wide receiver. The Giants also are concerned that rather than having relationships built up, they have been torn down this season. Two cornerbacks, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins, were suspended, and another, Eli Apple, was questioned on a defense that also has lacked oversight.

A hint of what could be coming in the next 24 hours was provided in the different statements Mara provided to the media 16 days apart. After the Giants fell to 1-8 with a loss to the then-winless San Francisco 49ers, Mara and co-owner Steve Tisch released a statement on Nov. 13 that read, in part: "Our plan is to do what we have always done, which is to not offer a running commentary on the season. It is our responsibility to determine the reasons for our poor performance and at the end of the year, we will evaluate the 2017 season in its entirety and make a determination on how we move forward."

But after Manning was benched last week and Mara was asked to if McAdoo was safe for the rest of the season, the Giants owner responded: "There are no guarantees in life." When contacted by ESPN on Saturday night, a team official did not offer a confirmation or denial to the latest development that McAdoo's firing could be imminent.

After playing in Oakland on Sunday, the Giants finish with three of their final four games at home, all against NFC East division foes -- Dallas on Dec. 10, Philadelphia on Dec. 17 and Washington on Dec. 31.

It's "possible," in the words of one source, and growing more and more likely, that by the time the Giants play their next home game, they will have a different head coach.

This would be the second time the Giants have fired a head coach after two seasons. Ray Handley went 14-18 before the Giants fires him after the 1992 season; McAdoo is 13-15 heading into Sunday's game at Oakland.

McAdoo's firing would be the first one of the season for head coaches, but hardly the last. NFL executives believe there could be eight to 10 head-coaching changes this year, which would be a bit higher than the average in a given year.

Initially I feared that they might go after Harbaugh but after talking to a lot of Giants fans they seem to get the sense that Steve Spagnuolo could/should get the job.

McAdoo is one year removed from 11 and 5. He just started building. They need to take a page out of Jerry's playbook and keep McAdoo around. It's worked out great for us.

Yes. The San Francisco gold miner. This is a dumb move on the Giants' part.

This thread will be a source of depression as we watch teams dump shit coaches, hire new ones who turn them around over night, and all while we stick with Garrett.

Yeah I'd love it if John Mara did us a huge favor and hired Ginger as his new GM to replace his two time super bowl winning one he also just fired.

I'm still not convinced Garrett is safe. If they finish 9-7 or 10-6 he probably is, but any worse than that I do wonder if Jones might say enough is finally enough.

There really isn't any legit excuse for this team to be having to depend on a miracle to make the playoffs.

When has there any been a real legit excuse for not firing Garrett?

And what leads anyone to believe that Garrett is in danger of being fired this season???

4-12 wasn’t enough, not being able to win with a back up QB wasn’t enough, 8-8 seasons year after year wasn’t enough, only 1 post season win in his entire career wasn’t enough, his many many embarrassing records of failure (highlighted in the other thread) have not been enough

Garrett not losing to the 2-11 NYG secures his future at least for another year

He was never in any danger, unless maybe we'd lost out to go 5-11. And even then I'm not sure. Both Jerry and Stephen were trumpeting the "Coach of the Year!" nonsense to anyone who would listen just a couple of weeks ago.

Even if we did go 5-11 his job was still safe

He of course had the excuse that Zeke’s suspension hurt the team and made it impossible to do his job when one of his star players are missing

People. You all need to face it. Garrett is going to be here for no less than 5 more years. 5th year would be Garrett's 12th season as the Cowboys' HC.

When Jones quip that San Francisco miner analogy, in truth he was alluding to Clint Murchinson and Tom Landry. Jones sees himself as Murchinson --- both were oil guys, and Garrett as Landry. Jerry at least had since enough not to come out and verbally compare Garrett to Landry, that whole ordeal is still a sore spot for older Cowboys' fans. Bottomline, we're looking at 5 more years MINIMUM of this mess. Landry won his first Super Bowl in his 12th years. Only way Garrett is out of here is when Jerry is put under.

5 more years of Garrett means 5 more years that we have no hope of doing anything meaningful

Jerry would go down with the ship. Or in other words he’d take the ship (team) down with him

He would never do what’s best for the team and get rid of his cash cow
