X-rays negative on McCray

The Cowboys escaped Thursday's game relatively injury-free. Two players went down on a scramble by Denver quarterback Tim Tebow, but safety Akwasi Owusu-Ansah just had the wind knocked out of him, and X-rays on safety Danny McCray were negative.

McCray injured his ribs and his left shoulder in the collision. But he walked away with only a bone bruise. McCray, who led the team with 28 special teams tackles last season, likely will miss a week.

The Cowboys will get center Andre Gurode (knee) and nose tackle Jay Ratliff (hip) back to practice Saturday, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. They were two of six starters out of action Thursday. Linebacker Keith Brooking (hamstring), offensive guard Montrae Holland (back) and cornerback Terence Newman (groin) could miss next week's preseason game against the Chargers. Cornerback Mike Jenkins (stinger) was limited in practice and missed Thursday's game, too.

"Initially, we expect Andre Gurode and Jay Ratliff to practice with us," Garrett said. "The other guys are still going to work their way back through their rehab next week. Don't necessarily anticipate any of those guys being able to play in San Diego as I stand here tonight. We'll just see how they do. They all have injuries, and we think it's better to give them a little more time rather than a little less time. Hopefully, they'll make some progress next week, and we'll take it day by day, and we'll see where they are."
