Just before WrestleMania 41 opened up, Paul “Triple H” Levesque gathered WWE’s collection of Luchadors, including an injured Rey Mysterio, to announce a major shakeup to the professional wrestling landscape: WWE was purchasing Lucha Libre AAA.

WWE Just Acquired The Biggest Lucha Libre Promotion: Here Is What It Means for the Future
Mere hours ahead of WrestleMania 41 Night One, WWE dropped the biggest bombshell possible. Anything can happen on WrestleMania weekend, as fans and critics alike have predicted what could happen at WWE's two-night extravaganza. However, this announcement is a prediction that no one on the outside could have possibly seen coming.
On WWE's countdown pre-show for WrestleMania 41 Night One, it was announced that WWE had officially bought AAA. Paul "Triple H" Levesque was sitting down with AAA General Manager Dorian Roldán, AAA President Marisela Peña, the best luchadors from both AAA and WWE's rosters, and other business execs, as Michael Cole was the one to announce the major acquisition. Levesque also confirms that AAA will be involved with WWE for a Worlds Collide crossover on June 7.
